Veggie Tales - An adventure in learning
In 1993 the funds hold out and Big Idea Productions is born. Where's God When I'm S-Scared? was released at this time becoming the first full-length, 3-D computer animated children's video produced in North America. Big Idea experienced several years of huge sales in spite of the fact that most sales came from word of mouth and christian book stores without any television spots. Big Idea had turned down many offers from major distributors because they refused to change the content on the shows. Finally in 1998 some of the episodes were available in nationwide stores such as walmart and kmart as well as a TV Spot on PAX-Tv.
Finally in 2008 Veggie Tales hit the big screen with The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. In January of 2008 it opens on over 1500 screens and groses 13 Million at the Box office. This makes me think ok if the Simpson's can get a star on Hollywood Blvd why not The Veggie Tales.
Veggie Tales on DVD
My review
My daughter truly enjoys these dvds. The songs are catchy and cute and the characters are more than lovable. I don't mind spending money on these dvds since I know that Big Idea has stood up for what they have created in the past. Refusing to cave in on principles says a lot about the company in my opinion. If you are a concerned parent who tries to filter the content of what your child watches on tv, then these are a super choice. Let them enjoy an adventure while they learn important life lessons from Gods word.Minnesota Cuke and the search for Noah's Umbrella

Minnesota Cuke and the search for Noah's Umbrella
Lessons in confidence
A wealthy Humphrey Muffet asks Minnesota to go in search of the famed Noah's Ark - an artifact he wants as the centerpiece of his Biblically themed goldfish pond. Along the way, Minnesota endures much ridicule as he completes the ludicrous tasks required by an ancient book of clues. With several twists and turns along the way, the clues eventually lead not to Noah's Ark, but to Noah's umbrella.Pre-Order Minnesota Cuke from the link below and get LarryBoy and the Bad Apple DVD FREE!

Veggie Tales - Gideon Tuba Warrior
NBC censors Veggie Tales
When Veggie Tales aired on NBC in September 2006, the episodes were edited to remove most references to God. Although the religious references remained in the closed-captions. Most obvious was the removal of the sign-off message: "Remember kids, God made you special and he loves you very much." This action sparked criticism from the watch groups and parents who complained to NBC. NBC replied that the editing conformed to the network's broadcast standards of "not to advocate any one religious point of view." Phil Vischer creator of Veggie Tales was also unhappy with the edits, stating that he was not informed that religious content would be removed from the series, and he would have refused to sign a contract if he had known of this beforehand. Vischer said, "I would have declined partly because I knew a lot of fans would feel like it was a sellout or it was done for money." Still, Vischer added that he understood NBC's wish to remain religiously neutral, and said, "VeggieTales is religious, NBC is not. I want to focus people more on 'Isn't it cool that Bob and Larry are on television?" In the Belly of the Whale music video

Imagination, Fun and the Power of Play!
As we all know we learn the most and retain what we learn longer when learning is an adventure and fun. This holds true for children and adults alike. I enjoy these Veggie Tales adventures as much as my 5 year old. In fact one day while my daughter was watching the Gideon and the Tuba Warriors, my husband's attention was caught by a line in the song. The line was "It's a good thing God has patience man cause your sure testing mine". It was funny and the next thing I knew he was watching the movie with my daughter. Afterward, he decided he wanted to study that portion of scripture for himself. What a wonderful seed was sewn in a 37 year old man thanks to one of these delightful films.Below are a few links to special promo merchandise and free shipping specials from Veggie Tales online store especially for you!

- Yes, parents should monitor and influence what kids watch. Having a pure or moral theme is great! Wonderful idea for a lens.

- Are they not one of the coolest things ever? I love the songs, and I couldn't tell you my favorite...maybe "Dance of the Cucumber" or "High Silk Hat".
