Anger & Your Personal Power

When we become emotionally reactive to the world around us, we have given our personal power away ( no longer in charge of self or emotions )

You give away your power when you ...
* Have poor boundaries.
* Doubt yourself.
* Allow yourself to be intimidated by bluster and emotional assaults from other people.
* Over-empower others by looking for approval and validation, giving them the power to hurt you.
* Forget that you know what you're doing, and you are good at it.

You keep your power when you ...
* Learn to say "No" and mean it.
* Stand up for yourself and believe in yourself, no matter what.
* Stand on the courage of your convictions.
* Ask for what you need and want.
* Embrace the fact you have the right be treated respectfully by other people.
* Be detached and practice detachment by observing other people's behavior without attachment to the outcome.
* Spend time with people who are kind and considerate in the midst of a spirited discussion.

Anger & Fairness

"Life should always be fair and exactly equal for everyone." If we have developed expectations based upon life being fair, then we are doomed to a life filled with misery. - I know, this is a tough one for a lot of us.

Feel antagonism toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong? This would be an example of ANGER.

One of my tools includes discussing how anger tends to rise in increments. Learn to evaluate yours from 0 (calm) to 60 (emotional explosion). If you can catch yourself early, you can take action to avoid reaching 60!

Frustration

When things just don't seem to be going right, we can become frustrated and confused as to; how to move forward, or how to deal with the frustration in a healthy way without anger clouding our judgment

Frustration is a common emotional response to opposition. Related to anger and disappointment, it arises from the perceived resistance to the fulfillment of individual will. The greater the obstruction, and the greater the will, the more the frustration is likely to be - from Wiki

Anger and Frustration - Where To Start

Our underlying anger can often be attributed to a perceived loss or loss of control over something that is of value to us. Consider this - struggles with persistent anger problems may represent important underlying issues that you have not yet resolved, or you are using emotional coping methods that are ineffective either way, help is available

Even though it seems impossible to decrease your anger at someone or something, reduce your level of frustration - a good first step is to make an effort to see the situation from their point-of-view. Recognizing it is not always about you, it might be their stuff.

Also, keep an open mind with this one: Forgiving is not forgetting, it is remembering and letting go. letting go is making things easier for YOU.

You may want to try keeping a track of to monitor what makes you angry, also known as an anger log. This can help you to learn, identify and avoid your anger triggers.

    I have learned to channel my anger, it is more about frustrations when I see injustice or stupidity...I just feel anger is such a wasted energy...It's easier to be negative then positive, and both are habits, so can be changed by choice...JMO...nice lens...5*
