What is the BEST Ice Fishing Flasher?
Being from the great upper midwest state of Minnesota, I have been ice fishing for as long as I can remember. When the temperature starts to drop and the boat has been put in storage for the winter it is time to think ICE!
As a kid, things were simpler but not necessarily easier. The advances in technology are amazing and they have made ice fishing a much easier game. Watching the screen of your favorite ice fishing flasher makes it seem like a bit of a video game.
There have been a great many advances in all of the tools that I use during ice fishing. The portable fish houses are smaller and lighter, the heaters are warmer, the rods are more sensitive and even the lures have become more advanced. But the one thing that I didn't have growing up is a flasher. If I had to pick the single most important tool to become more successful on the frozen water it would be a flasher. Not only do they show depth but you can see the fish and exactly where they are. You drill a hole through the ice and you can instantly see if there are fish down there or not.....AMAZING!
The only question that remains is...VEXILAR or MARCUM?

I know that there are people from below the ice line that just do not understand the whole idea behind the sport of Ice Fishing. All I can really tell these folks is that you need to experience it for yourself before you can truly understand.
The reasons behind my love of the sport are as varied as the lakes I fish and the lures I use. But, I think the main reason is the real "sport" behind being able to go out on a frozen sheet of ice, set up my shelter, drill a hole through the frozen water, drop the Sonar transducer through the hole and start catching fish. This is fishing in its earliest form. Man against the elements, man against animal....
Nothing can come close to the excitement that I feel when that first fish hits the ice, that first sip off my soon frozen beverage or the numbness that swells in your hands due mainly because I am too busy catching fish to put my gloves back on. This is Ice Fishing, give it a try and I am sure you will be hooked too!!!!
