When is the best time to Visit Disney in Florida?
With sunshine year round do you have to go in Summer?
Summer Time at Disney
Hot and sticky Disney
Visiting Florida in the Summer means two things; heat and people with the occasional Hurricane thrown in for good measure. Temperatures are hottest during July and August, and as most children have school vacation during this time, inevitably this is the time that people target for their vacations.
Weather wise, you can expect hot temperatures during the day with glorious sunshine. Unfortunately this is also the Wettest part of the year for Florida and you can expect regular downpours in the afternoons. These last for anything from 5 minutes up to 1 hour. One good thing is that the downpours do freshen up the air. If you do get wet you will soon be dry again.
Hurricanes in central Florida are few and far between, most go up the coast or die down when they hit landfall. During our 2005 trip we had the misfortune to experience Hurricane Charlie which unusually went straight through Orlando.
Amazingly we only lost half a day at the theme parks with the parks closing at 2.00pm on the day the hurricane hit. Most parks were open the following morning although some had restrictions in place. Damage around the area was mainly to the trees and neon signs.
Not, in my opinion the best time to visit, but if you have to go during this period, you will still enjoy as long as you take sensible precautions against the sun and the temperature.

Christmas at Disney?
What a fantastic time to visit Disney.
Christmas can be one of the best times to visit Disney and if you time your trip right you can benefit in more ways than you might realise.I would recommend that you try and visit Disney at Christmas at least once. The experience is completely different from a summer time visit. There are festive celebrations going on all the time. Check out my Christmas at Disney Lens.
Christmas week, that is the week between Christmas and New Year, can be very busy and you really do have to plan where you want to be each day. Many of the parks fill up quickly and when full the gates close and you won't get in. So decide where you want to be and get there early.
In contrast the week following Christmas week can be fairly quiet with much reduced queues at the popular rides.
If you time your trip right you can be there for Christmas week and also experience some of the quiet period following.
The weather in December and January is quite mild and is usually warm enough to have just a T-shirt on, but you may need to put on a jacket or cardigan in the evening. Rain is not common at this time of year so you can expect sunshine throughout.

Halloween at Disney?
Halloween at Disney is fantastic. It can be busy but if you time it right you can get to experience all the Halloween celebrations and miss the worst of the crowds.
Disney characters all get dressed up in Halloween outfits aand there are decorations everywhere.
Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party is certainly worth attending if you get the chance. This is a special ticket event and has some additional Halloween activities laid on.
There is trick or treating for the children, and the adults if they wish. Be sure that you have a good size backpack to carry all the treats. When we visited we had about 4Kg (9lb) of treats!
There are many opportunities to meet Disney Characters for photographs and autographs most of which are dressed in Halloween outfits.
If you want to dress up, you are welcome and encouraged to do so. the only rule that is set is that you can not cover your face.
Halloween celebrations tend to run throughout most of September and October with Mickey's Party on numerous occasions throughout the month.
