You have to play it to win it
For years I've been dutifully buying lottery tickets, hoping I'll be the next big winner.It hasn't happened yet.
But that doesn't mean it WON'T happen...
Unless, of course, I don't buy a ticket this week.
When they first started our lottery, the drawings happened once a week, on Saturday.
I bought a ticket every time, and looked forward all week to winning a pot full of money on the weekend.
It never happened.
Then they added another drawing, on Wednesday night. A little something extra to help get us through the work week.
I bought tickets for that drawing, too.
I still didn't win.
Then they added another game, with drawings in between the other two. I bought 'em all...
And kept throwing away my losing tickets.
A couple of times I forgot to buy lotto tickets. I was beside myself with worry. What if the ticket I DIDN'T buy was the one that was going to win it this time?! How could I go on with my life, knowing that I might have missed my big chance?
But then our state lottery commission decided to have lotto drawings FIVE nights a week (in addition to a daily drawing for smaller prizes). That's when I decided to step back and rethink my lotto habit.
I stopped buying tickets for EVERY drawing.
I stopped beating myself up when I FORGOT to buy a ticket.
Now I only buy a ticket if the prize is 5 million dollars or more. Sometimes I skip it altogether.
I'm OK with that.
Who knows? Someday, I just MIGHT become the next lottery millionaire...
If I decide to buy a ticket.

- That's a stack of $20 bills in the video -- 12" tall x 8" deep x 60" long. That's about an 18" cube of cash. Maybe visualizing a million in $100 bills will be easier. I think a billion dollars in 100s will fill a small bedroom up to 5' height. I like the sound of that.

- Ha! Great lens! Loved it. Think of it this way (I've expanded on this in one of my lenses): if you have some decent Squidoo lenses and they generate a monthly "residual" income, it's sort of similar to having money in the bank that's generating "interest". So, if you make $50/month, which is $600/year... it's like having $6000 in the bank generating 10% interest (or $12,000 in the bank generating 5%). If you are making $500/month ... which is $6000/year, that's similar to having $120,000 in the bank at 5%). And... if you are making $5000 a month, that is $60,000/year... which would be similar to having $1,200,000 in the bank getting 5%. So... *visualizing* a very successful Squidoo campaign... is something I can do. :-) Congrats on a Squidoo masterpiece! (And yes, I'm working on *visualizing* this in a very *real* way.
