As a avid Vikings fan I would like to think I know how the Vikings draft. What the team needs is immediate help at DB and/or a franchise QB but as a team that believes in BPA plus the depth at the CB and Safety pool in this years draft they might take a player like Tim Tebow/Colt McCoy or even an offensive lineman at 30. Especially if they think they fit the draft best player available mantra.

A lot of people see Brian Price and think Pat Williams replacement or see Everson Griffen and think Ray Edwards replacement, well the Vikings usually don't draft to fill a need in the 1st round and besides that we have Jimmy Kennedy/Brian Robison who both can fill those roles just fine. Then use their 2nd/3rd round picks to draft depth/competition for these roles.

In this poll I believe the BPA has got to be the LT, Charles Brown. We got Loadholt last year and if they draft Brown they can solidify our tackles for the future. A good offensive line is the only way a young QB and a strong running game will succeed.
  • Anonymous Apr 17, 2010 @ 11:28 pm | delete
Vikings will take Tim Tebow at 30 more then likely but replacing Bryant McKinnie is also a good move for the future when you got a franchise LT on the board.

Ratliff is good but not the best DT in football. He's a top 5 player and definitely a fast riser but you gotta have 1a. Kevin Williams, 1b. Albert Haynesworth, 3. Darnell Dockett ahead of 4. Jay Ratliff. With Shaun Rogers, Tommie Harris, and Jamal Williams/Casey Hampton not too far behind. All having played better for longer but on the backsides of their careers.
  • golong9 Apr 17, 2010 @ 9:43 am | delete
can't argue with your list of dt's. though in my eyes the only one that is better then ratliff would be haynesworth. even at that i would still take take ratliff over him because of haynesworth's b!tch a$$ attitude. ratliff, on the other hand is almost as good on the field, plays every play to win and is a good teammate.
  • GOLONG9 Apr 14, 2010 @ 3:04 pm | delete
man i sure hope it does not turn out that way for the cowboys. the team has already stated(a million times) that they have no plans or DESIRE to move ratliff (perhaps the best dt in football) to de. TOTAL WASTE OF A 1st ROUND PICK.

    Cont...

Looking at Ryan Mathews, 6'0"/218lbs some would think he is more then capable of withstanding the load of a starting NFL RB. Mathews although extremely productive while at Fresno State isn't likely to see the same kind of success he did in the WAC with an extremely good offensive line going against inferior competition. Although he is a decent blocker he struggles with inconsistencies with catching the ball which will restrict him from seeing the field on 3rd downs. Where Jahvid Best has nice hands and is a good pass catcher. Best is best known for his elite speed he showed off at the combine when he ran a 4.35 40-yard dash. His quick feet and acceleration combined with good vision and elusiveness makes him hard to tackle. He's got the Home-run threat potential but yet he's got a injury riddles past and is not of prototypical NFL size at 5-10/199lbs. Also he is a poor pass protector.

Neither of the two runningbacks on the board really fill the role of a everydown back in the league (see other comment) and although Sproles isn't a everydown back he's a perfect receiving back and that's what the Chargers are now a passing team. They can find that running partner for Sproles in later rounds.

What the Chargers need is a 3-4 NT. Too bad there's only four options here to vote on.

P.S. Carlos Dunlap shouldn't be a 1st round prospect. He's too lazy and inconsistent to be taken that high.
  • ReturnoftheDoomsdayDfense Apr 13, 2010 @ 4:28 am | delete
Terrence Cody could help free up Ratliff and Demarcus Ware while stuffing the middle and taking double teams. Perfect NT for their 3-4 defense.
  • snave59 Apr 12, 2010 @ 5:54 pm | delete
There are 3 players here I think the Cardinals would love to choose from-Cody,
Weatherspoon,A.Davis.I think the fans would probably like the pick to be Cody,so we'll give him to the Cards.
  • Wootahoy Apr 12, 2010 @ 2:53 pm | delete
What about Jermaine Gresham for the Cards? If he's out there, I can't see how they can pass on him at this point in the draft.
  • RIck Apr 12, 2010 @ 9:33 am | delete
As the Cardinals complete their transition to the 3-4, and with the loss of starting linebackers Karlos Dansby and Chike Okeafor, Sergio Kindle would be the BPA and fill the most glaring need of the team.
  • Chris Apr 12, 2010 @ 9:12 am | delete
A lot of people have the Cards taking an OLB with their first pick but they still have Cody Brown and Will Davis to develop as well as newly aquired Joey Porter and vet Clark Haggans. They also picked up CFLer Steve Baggs. They need either a DT or LT and Cody is the guy that could eat blockers and free up the whole front seven.
  • Chase Apr 11, 2010 @ 9:10 pm | delete
If the ravens see Kindle sitting there I think they will be very happy to get a prototypical 3-4 LB.
  • snave59 Apr 11, 2010 @ 11:06 am | delete
The Ravens need another pass rusher to compliment Terrell Suggs. They could also use corner help.Brandon Graham would be the ideal pick.Since he's gone it should be Robinson or McCourtney.
  • ravens65 Apr 11, 2010 @ 1:09 am | delete
Eagles have few good linebackers left and they would flip if Kindle was still available. The rebuilding continues with a stud linebacker.
  • Chase Apr 10, 2010 @ 6:21 pm | delete
Need DB help. Depth in DEs for the rest of the draft and Reid can find value in the position late ex: Trent Cole.
Best LB for the Birds 4-3 is gone (Weatherspoon)
Best S are gone and they should be able to get a good one with pick #37 (Nate Allen?)
Maurice Pouncey is an option bu from what I hear he is a typical 2nd round C in a weak Center draft.

Best option is: Kareem Jackson or Robinson but from what I see Jackson looks better.

If those were the four players the Steelers would have to pick from, I would trade back, all four are going to be busts
  • snave59 Apr 8, 2010 @ 6:25 am | delete
A lot of players here the Bengals could use-Mays,Graham,Gresham etc.The defense finished in the top 5 lats year.Time to give Carson Palmer a new weapon to help the offense. The Bengals were decimated at TE last year,so lets give them Gresham.
  • snave59 Apr 7, 2010 @ 4:04 pm | delete
The Texans needs are dt and a bigger rb to compliment Slaton. They can choose between Odrick who is moving up the charts,Brian Price and RB Ryan Mathews.
  • snave59 Apr 6, 2010 @ 1:50 pm | delete
The Falcons need a consistent pass rusher to play opposite Jonathan Abraham.
Jason Pierrie-Paul is a good fit here.
  • snave59 Apr 5, 2010 @ 11:46 am | delete
Steelers 2 biggest needs are OG and CB.Iupati is a mauker in the steelers mold.
  • snave59 Apr 3, 2010 @ 8:00 pm | delete
The Titans need pass rush help at DE.Jason Pierre Paul could also be a possibility here.
  • Don from Webster, NY Apr 2, 2010 @ 3:55 pm | delete
Mike Uipati would be the most logical pick for the position of need and value. A lot of Giants fans are all over Sean Weatherspoon, but take into account that the guy is a WLB which is his natural position. Ask Scott Wright for NFL countdown. Remember that the Giants had a difficult time scoring from the Redzone.
  • portland niner Mar 30, 2010 @ 7:42 pm | delete
The niners need speed and offense. They can pick up a solid RT at 17th pick or in the second round like Ducasse or Calloway.
  • McGunn21 Mar 30, 2010 @ 2:02 am | delete
The Pick here should be Trent Williams... but the 49ers should target 2 players here at 13 and 17. Trent and C.J. Spiller. If they select Trent Williams, C.J. will likely be taken by the Seahawks.

This is why they should take C.J. at 13 and watch as Trent Williams falls to them at 17 because the Seahawks have already selected Bryan Bulaga @ 6.

C.J. Spiller is the pick in my opinion
  • Brad Mar 29, 2010 @ 3:05 pm | delete
The Phins must address the most important position in their 3-4 defense, the DT. They can't "hope or wait" for another in the second round. They can grab a quality rusher or WR in round 2, bu they must fill the DT spot with Williams.
  • tommy thomson Mar 27, 2010 @ 10:56 am | delete
Jax needs a free safety, but Earl Thomas is a reach here. Needs a receiver, too, and Bryant rates well.
  • jayef Mar 26, 2010 @ 3:30 pm | delete
Remember Randy Moss & his slide down the draft. Dez is a beast that should not be passed on.
  • dsman18 Mar 26, 2010 @ 9:04 am | delete
How many coaches are the Bills going to fire before they realize they don't have a quarterback who SHOULD be starting in the NFL.
  • canihelp1 Mar 25, 2010 @ 2:52 am | delete
The Raiders need offensive line help bad and Campbell can give it. However, he only started a little over a year and it wouldn't surprise me if crazy Al goes after Bryant. He's everything Davis loves. He plays offense, he's a receiver, and he gets in trouble.=Raiders
  • ScrantonSeahawk Mar 24, 2010 @ 12:54 pm | delete
Seneca Wallace is not the answer
  • Tony K. Mar 24, 2010 @ 8:36 am | delete
The Brownies need to think of the future with this pick, because let's face it they simply are not going to be good for the next couple of years. Delhomme can play for a couple years and throw 50 interceptions per year, with a decent backup QB in Seneca Wallace. This will give Clausen time to develop into the QB of the future. Holmgren should have this team back and competitive in 3-5 years.
  • John Mar 23, 2010 @ 7:24 pm | delete
Bryan Bulaga is the most technically sound tackle in the draft. He is a great prospect at a position of need for the Seahawks. With two solid picks in the 1st round... Seattle could begin to contend again in the NFC West. With solid quarterback play that is... from Charlie or Matt. I don't think they will go JImmy Clausen with the pick because of their recent acquisition of Charlie Whitehurst
  • Goldenflash72 Mar 22, 2010 @ 10:03 pm | delete
Need to protect their investment in QB.
