WOMAD and World Music
A survey of the world music scene and last minute news about WOMAD 2012.
Peter Gabriel, Thomas Brooman, and Bob Hooton founded WOMAD in 1980 as a central forum for World Music, Arts & Dance. Their enthusiasm led to the first WOMAD festival at Shepton Mallet, UK, in 1982 and the movement has since grown to several annual festivals around the world.
So successful has the WOMAD movement been, that it has generated the 'World Music' music genre.
WOMAD festivals offer an exceptional mix of musicians and artists, performing in a notable family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of audience participation and workshops. Master performers from around the world, interact, learn from each other and jam, to produce unique music and dance events.

- I believe I would love a WOMAD festival, and can see why people get excited. They drive it home until there is a brake through in a spiritual realm. Awesome to see performers such as these.

- Thank you Nora,
WOMAD is a wonderful movement, and you know that they don't just have music at the festivals, food from all over the world has become an important feature as well.
