Introduction
This lens will be an ongoing project. Check back to find more great links as I find and add them!
If you have any quality World of Warcraft links that you don't see here, please email them to me, using the contact button.
Table of Contents
Offical World of Warcraft Links
World of Warcraft Official Site: This is the main WoW Website.Wrath of the Lich King site: News and updates on WoW's second expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King.
Offical World of Warcraft Forums: Enter at own risk! =)
World of Warcraft/Burning Crusade Client Downloads: Useful if you need to reinstall but don't have your CDs available. This is for existing accounts.
Combat Ratings System Explained: This Blue post explains how to translate all of the new "ratings" numbers into percentages. Very helpful when trying to evaluate gear upgrades.
The Armory:Offline character viewer. You can see your (and others')characters on this site, and you can also check out the top rated arena teams. (Which is handy when you're starting out in PVP and want to compare builds of the top players.)
Official Patch Notes: Great for keeping up with changes to the game.
The following two links aren't official Blizzard websites, but the first is an affiliate and the second points you to official info:
Figure Prints: This company will create a 3D figure of your character based on your WoW Armory information. A bit pricey, but pretty neat too.
Blue Tracker: Very cool site which tracks Blue (official Blizzard posters, usually Community Managers, and sometimes Developers) posts on the WoW Forums.
WoW Item/Quest Databases and Utilities
WoWHead:In my opinion, the best Item/Quest database out there.Thottbot: One of the first WoW databases. Useful for lower level quest info, as WoWHead is newer, and sometimes lacks comments for lower level stuff.
Allakhazam:Another oldie, listed here for the same reason Thottbot is.
Curse Gaming WoW Addons: Repository for many useful User Interface addons.
WoW Interface.com: Another good UI mod site. I find the layout a little easier to navigate than Curse.
WoWHead Talent Calculator: I like this one better than the official talent calculator.
Official WoW Talent Calculator: That said, here's the official talent calculator.
Warcrafter.net: This is a replacement for the old CTProfiles site, which imports your character's armory profile, and lets you preview different gear and its effects on your stats. It's very nice, and very slick. It's also very impressive for a one man show. (Keep that in mind if you come across any bugs... this is the work of ONE guy!)
MaxDPS.com: Great guide to getting the most DPS out of your character.
Warcraft Realms Character Search: Shows a history of characters and what guilds they've been in.
WOWJutsu: A WoW guild progress ranking site.
**NEW** Warcraft Pets: Very nice site detailing all of the non-combat novelty pets in WoW, and how to get them.
**NEW** World of Warcraft Updating System: If you hate updating your mods manually every patch, this may be worth checking out. This is a handy utility that updates your UI mods automatically. It's an external program that fetches updates to mods and drops them into your /addons directory for you. It doesn't interact with your WoW.ex when the game is running, and appears to be completely legit.
I've had three family members using this program for about six months now with no problems, and it scans clean with my AV software, so I'm going to give it a try. If it causes me any problems, I'll remove this link. However, YOU are responsible for your computer's security, so you should use your own best judgment when loading any externals that interact with WoW.
**NEW!**Be Imba!: Character auditor. This site pulls character info from Armory profiles and gives an audit of gear, enchants and gems. This can be a helpful tool for checking a character's readiness for different levels of PVE content.
Strategy Guides
Note: WoWhead.com, listed above, has strategies for five man bosses, in both normal and heroic modes.WoWWiki:A wiki devoted to WoW, chock full of great information!
Bosskillers: This site has links to guides for killing raid bosses, including video links. Very handy when you're learning a new raid encounter.
Ten Ton Hammer's WoW Site: Another good general resource.
WoW Stratics: The Stratics site for World of Warcraft. A lot of useful info here, especially for pre-BC stuff.
World of Raids: You'll find strategy guides on the left side of the page, but this site has so much more! It could qualify for several sections here. The forums are one of the best, and the news on the front page is up to date and worth a regular visit in and of itself.
Elitist Jerks Forums: Tons of great info to be had here.
MMO Champion: Great site for news and previews. I always look here to see what's coming in the next patch.
PVP Scene: Great PVP resources and information.
Arena Junkies: Another good PVP resource, focused on Arenas.
Leveling Guides
(Paid)
These are the only resources listed on this lens that require payment, and they are well worth it. No free guides offer the level of detail or quality of these two leveling guides.I'll be posting a guide to basic power leveling principles soon, which explains how these quest stacking guides work, and why they work so well post patch 2.3.
You should be able to find some basic leveling info for each class in the class guides section.
Joana's Horde Leveling Guide
Brian Kopp's Alliance Leveling Guide
Update!
While cruising around WoWWiki, I found their article on Power Leveling, which has several links to leveling guides within the Wiki. As I said above, not as detailed at the above two guides, but free and perhaps useful.
WoWWiki Power Leveling Page
Class Guides
Class Guides and Dedicated Sites
GENERALElitist Jerks Class Mechanics Forum: Excellent resource for the nitty gritty of class mechanics from a top guild's site.
WARRIOR
Warrior Guide Collection: Ciderhelm of Cenarius has collected a list of some of the best warrior guides available, covering tanking, dps and gearing.
Tankspot: Although this site also covers Druid and Paladin tanks, the focus of most of the material is around Warrior tanking.
Easy Pre-Karazhan and Pre-Heroic Warrior Tanking Gear Guide: This guide focuses on getting geared up quickly to begin tanking heroics and Karazhan for the fresh level 70 Warrior. It deemphasizes drops in favor of quested and crafted items.
MAGE
Fire Mage DPS Guide: Great guide for fire mages, also includes many links at the bottom of the page of interest to mages in general.
ROGUE
Osiris' Guide to Playing a Rogue v3.0: Very thorough Rogue guide.
Rogue Spot: The best dedicated Rogue website I've found.
Shadow Panther.net: Great gearing guide for Rogues.
HUNTER
Petopia: The ultimate resource for hunter pet info.
Pet Training Calculator:Very handy tool for figuring out your pet's build.
Big Red Kitty: Hunter Blog
Hunter Macros Thread:Some of the info here may be a little dated, but it's still a useful resource of hunter macros.
Good Intentions Hunter Pet Abilities Guide: A whomping huge chart of all Hunter pet abilities, and where to get them.
Steady /Auto Shot and Kill Command Macro: This thread details a macro to help you weave as close to 1:1 Auto/Steady shots, and execute Kill Command when it's up. Very, very nice macro for Beast Mastery hunters especially.
DRUID
Druid FAQ: Druid FAQ from the WoW forums. Good coverage of the basics.
**NEW**Druid Speed Chart: Handy chart to show you how fast you are in forms, including feral PVP set bonus and enchants.
Pre-Karazhan Bear Tanking Gear Guide: Guide aimed at getting your feral druid up to speed to tank heroics and/or start Karazhan as quickly as possible. The emphasis is on quested, crafted or rep items rather than drops or PVP items (though PVP items are great for ferals).
PALADIN
The Big List of Paladin Links: Another sticky post on the official WoW forums, Rill of Hellscream has compiled an impressive list of links to all things Paladin.
PRIEST
Lux et Umbra: a PvE Priest Handbook by Nightshroud of Alleria: Good PVE guide from the official WoW Priest forums.
Leveling a Priest: How To Do It Right by Covello of Cho'gall: I refer back to this one frequently while leveling my priest.
WARLOCK
In Depth Warlock FAQ by Maso of Kil'jaeden: Another sticky from the official WoW forums. Good info for any starting warlock.
SHAMAN
Guide to Shaman Guides: Perwira of Gorefiend has provided this list of links to Shaman guides, which is stickied on the official WoW Shaman forum.
DEATH KNIGHT
NEW! DeathKnight.info: It is what it says, a page with Death Knight info from WOTLK Beta! Nicely done compilation of beta DK info.
Death Knight FAQ on Curse Gaming: Curse presents the Death Knight FAQ from the WoW European forums.
Note: Death Knights will be available in the upcoming expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, and not much is known about them except what has been given out in some interviews or some developer posts.
I remember reading a very well-done page tracking all available Death Knight info, but cannot locate it now. If you know a good, comprehensive Death Knight page, please send me the URL via the e-mail link in the author section at the top of this page.
Professions Guides
Note: Rather than reinvent the wheel and link each guide, I've given two links to guides pages. You'll find every profession represented on those first two links. I've also included my favorite Fishing and Cooking guide.GENERAL
Guides (all) List on Ten Ton Hammer: The Professions guides are on the top right of the content section of the page. These are the most comprehensive guides I've found.
List of Professions Guides on Official WoW Forums: I haven't reviewed all the links here, but it's an impressive collection.
FISHING and COOKING
WoWWiki Fishing and Cooking Power Leveling Guide: Great guide, very detailed. I used this to go from 0-375 in both Cooking and Fishing on my Mage.
Jewel Crafting
WoW Gem Finder: Handy tool for looking up gems.
