The Wargaming World
Overview before getting into details
While Wargames always immerse players in military conflicts between two or more factions the context of a conflict is not always an historical one.
Wargames cover everything from spears and swords
battles to Napoleonic scenarios, from World War 2 to World War 3 simulations, from Fantasy settings like Lord of the Ring to more Sci-Fi ones like Warhammer 40K all the way to Space only battles like Babylon 5 and more.
As you can imagine there is plenty of opportunities for wargame players to customise their armies or fleets. Hobby players buy pieces of scenery from rocks to vegetation to bunkers to big buildings often in plain plastic color to then paint it to taste. The same is true for models of troops and vehicles. Modelling your own items or customising off the shelf items is integral part of the Wargame Hobby
All these scenery and army units come in scale and usually they go from 6-millimetres to 30-millimetres in size. These are the most common sizes:
