Washi Eggs

Welcome to my Washi Eggs lens. The object of this lens is to share this magnificent art with you and to show you are they are made.

Washi Eggs is an art form of using Japanese Washi paper and applying it to the outside of an empty egg shell. The stunning designs on this origami paper is awesome and truley stands out in the finished product.

I hope you enjoy this lens on the Washi Eggs and hope you find the tutorial below helpful to making your Washi Eggs.

How to Make a Washi Egg

Making a Washi Egg is not that hard. It just takes a little patience to work with the egg and paper. If you take your time and don't rush, you will end up with a very beautiful Washi Egg.

The most important thing to realize about doing these Washi Eggs is not to skimp on the paper. If you substitute the Washi paper with some other paper, you will most likely not be happy with the results. Washi paper is perfect for gluing on the eggs as it blends well together and will not become transparent when glued.

The link below is to the best directions online on how to make the Washi Eggs. Have fun with the Japanese tradition of Washi Eggs.

I haven't made any Washi covered eggs but I did make a few imitation hot air balloons for children using blown up balloons covered with Washi paper. They were pretty. I wonder if anyone has tried using Ostrich eggs? Really nice lens. 5 stars, fan, fav'd and lensroll.
