Water Joe the world's first caffeinated water!

Water Joe was created by a college student at Arizona State University in 1987 who didn't like the taste of coffee or sodas but needed to stay awake to study. His simple solution was to just caffeinate water, however, at that time no such beverage existed.

In 1993 he pursued this college idea with the assistance of a beverage chemist and developed a formulation that was the caffeine equivalent of one cup of coffee and most importantly, tasted just like water. From there it took nearly two years to find a spring water bottler that was willing to run caffeine through their processing lines. Finally one was found and a partnership was formed.

In 1995, Water Joe the world's first caffeinated water was launched in the midwest!

After 10+ years Water Joe is still keeping people awake.

It didn't take long for the media to grab hold of this new, unique and exciting new drink. In fact most didn't know what to make of Water Joe but definitely wanted their viewers to know.

Water Joe became the media darling in 1996 thanks largely in part to an article in the New York Times. Water Joe also became one of USA Today's product hits of the year and made it into Wired Magazine's Top 100 Tired/Wired.
