Web 2.0 Resource Guide

Ranked #8,705 in How-To, #94,704 overall

I was thinking about a Web 2.0 Resource lens for a while. I know is boring but so useful to have all of them in just one place. For people that want to expend the power of free traffic via Web 2.0 Applications, this lens will save hours of research.

It is also a challenge to keep this lens up to date, as this field is so viral.

I am not inventing anything in this lens. I just worked hard to gather the best lists possible using the work of other great Internet marketers. It is hard to thank all of them but I'll mention the ones that contributed to my own education about Web 2.0.

All my gratitude to:
Joel Comm, J. P. Schoeffel, Eric Holmlund, Dave Guindon, Michael Ambrosio, Jeff Dedrick, Derrick VanDyke, and so on..

When one of those names are coming your way, you get quality work.

I start a debate about this as I am convinced that a resource lens, where you find all in one place, is a useful tool.

Web 2.0 is considered the new generation of Websites, they are Websites that are interactive with its members, allows its members to dynamically change the sites, add content to them, and interact with other members of the site like never before.

To your success Michey

Social Networks

The idea behind Social Networking is about being able to group people into specific groups - online community of Internet users.
As soon as you are granted access to a social networking website you can begin to socialize with the people in the group.
Social Networking is usually open memberships where you begin to create your own network of friends.

I was a little skeptical for the beginning. But as soon as I realize the power of interaction with others, I completely changed my mind, and the new mentality got me.
Needless to say, I was delighted with: the amount of traffic Web 2.0 got me, the interesting and talented people I met on line, and how much I learned from others.

What Is New On Web 2.0?

A new trend is tagging or folksonomies (name coming from folks and taxonomy).

Tagging is powerful because enable people to file away content under tags, but, even better, share it with others by filing it under a global taxonomy that they created.

How tagging works? Using tagging sites, consumers are collaborating on categorizing online content under certain keywords, or tags. For instance, an you can post photographs of your iPod on Flickr and file it under the tag "iPod." These images are now not only visible under you as a user iPod tag but also under more then 5,000 photos that are labeled "iPod." on Flickr.

Examples of tagging sites:
  • del.icio.us - a bookmark sharing site
  • Flickr - a photo sharing site
  • Footag
  • RedGage and many more

Tagging is a technique which is catching on because as it is a natural complement to search.

Beyond a doubt, tags are far from perfect, marketers should, nevertheless, be using them to keep a finger on the pulse of Web 2.0.

Start subscribing to RSS feeds to monitor how consumers are tagging information related to your product, service, company or space.
These are living focus groups that are available for free.

Resources Lenses and Links.

If a Squidoo lens is a Resource lens, can we have how many link we need? And Resources lenses are useful or not.

Resources lenses must follow the links rule?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Resources lenses are different; they should have how many links are necessary.

Michey says:

Thanks, you answer my questions, it is about linking to the same domain not about the total links on the same lens.
It is going to take some time, but I'll do it gradually as I want people to directly click on links.
Thanks a lot.
Michey

Momtothezoo says:

Yes, they are quite useful.

Michey says:

I think resources lenses are useful, and will be great if a visitor can click directly on a link vs. copy and paste a link on browser

Resources lenses are not useful, and they must follow the links new rule.

spirituality says:

Of course resource lenses are useful, but they will still have to follow the new rule. It's very unusual for it to be necessary to link to 9 pages on the same domain anyhow, even on resource lenses. Like this lens - if you turned all the links here into actual links, you'd still be linking only once or twice to the same domain.
