Readers: What is your forecast about the future of Webkinz?

Specially when other giant multinational corporations, well established for years in the toy industry fell behind in the competition against an overnight pioneer of sorts, Ganz.

In my opinion, the novelty and ingenuity of webkinz pets are way too powerful to ever die down. Underneath their cute skin and animated avatars, Ganz Webkinz are in fact a revolution in the toy industry. It is one of a kind full fledged, well strategized technological integration of dream and science. No lesser than a fairy tale like saga, where every child's fancyful imagination comes alive right before his/her eyes, almost life-like in the form of webkinz world, a Ganz website. (atleast for the kid who swears by it and sleeps with it hugging in the night). Never before a child could associate a physical form of a toy with it's soul that he/she had only visualized in the dreams. Virtual reality for children and toddlers, many still in their ABCs, was a untapped market and GANZ like true professionals captured the niche and went onto become market leaders.

Is Webkinz there to stay longterm or is it just a momentary craze?

In my days of childhood, I used to dream of talking to my favourite toys. But now with Webkinz, it has become a reality for my kid. He is absolutely thrilled about it. I am quite sure it must be the same with other parents too. Webkinz is definitely here to stay as long as they do not move away from the idea of physical toys. The online world of Webkinz is no doubt a new phenomenon. On the hindsight it needs a computer and internet connection. But well in my case, I obviously didn't want to give my laptop to my son. So I got a separate inexpensive PC for him. But I am not sure how others are getting along with it. I hope with the development of technology, computers will be even cheaper so that everyone could afford it. In my opinion, the online feature will become further popular if the cost of computers and internet connection decreases.
