Website Header Wizard

What is a Header? A Header is the Graphic Image on the very top of a web page. We all have seen nice looking ones. And we have all seen some incredibly ugly ones too.

Do you need expensive graphic software? Some would say you do but in reality you just need some software like WebsiteHeaderWizard.

So What Sizes Are We Talking About?

According to the software, there are five dimensions pre-defined; 600x125, 650x135, 700x145, 750x150, and 800x165.

However, it is possible to configure a dimension that fits a special size of web page. In my test I used 800x200 but you can be sure that you can use your own custom size.

Now the Image

We have the size ready now we need the image.

With WebsiteHeaderWizard there are two ways to get an image into the work area.

1. Use the "Browse The Library" button and browse through the 700+ images. THAT is a lot of images and you should see something that you can use.

2. HOWEVER. In case you do not see what you envision or you want to use your own image then you have a method to get it into the work area called "Image Grabber Wizard".

The really cool thing about the Image Grabber is that when you have your size set you will be shown your image in a larger window. Then you can move your mouse pointer in that window and you will see a rendition of your image that you want to create. The really cool thing about this is that you can create many versions of a Header from one image but the perspectives can be very different.

Can We Add Text?

Absolutely!

In my test I entered my text and tested the add button. I maneuvered the mouse on to the center of the image and clicked it. The text was added. By default the font, size and color did not match my image so I had to remove the text and redo it.

I changed the font, size and color and I then clicked the Special Effects button. There were some standard functions like Border, Fill, Effects, and Styles. I added a Border around the edge of my text and added a Drop Shadow.

I then clicked the Add Text button and positioned the pointer where I wanted the text to appear. I clicked and the text did show up on the image. BUT the Drop Shadow did not appear. I made several attempts but it did not produce the effect.

Now We Can Save

There are four options available; Save Header, New Header, Save Work, and Load Work.

The user can save their work and reload it at some point in time for further modifications. There is also the option to click New Header to clear out all of your work and start over.

The Save Header button saves the image with the Text. Note: The user will not be able to save the image without adding any text. This is a requirement by the application. Apparently, use of the images requires a certain level of change for licensing.

Final Thoughts

The software performed well. I like the fact that I can load any image that I may have and be able to select any portion of the image that I want for my header.

The downside is that something as simple as a Drop Shadow I could not produce. Upon further thinking it would have been nice to produce a Halo effect around the text and to be able to change the color of the Shadow.

So buying WebsiteHeaderWizard is considered to be a good buy even though there are a couple of shortcomings.
