Creating "Hits" For Websites

Being a small, home-based business owner I am always looking for ways to market my business with a shoe-string budget. I have heard pro's and con's regarding some sites that offer "guaranteed hits" for a cost. I had even been warned from networking friends regarding some businesses by name! So, with a little extra money, I decided to test one particular site to see what would happen. The following is my experience:

First, I must say to always be mindful when approaching ANY business expense and check it out. Ask questions and also check with your contacts to get a better perspective. Ok, here we go.

I actually have several affiliate sites that I run and one in particular was not doing too well. When this type of thing happens, I try to take a step out of my "box" and see what may be going on. Of course, getting traffic to ANY site can be difficult, time consuming and expensive if you don't manage it well. This was becoming the case for this website.

A friend had talked to me several months ago about a site she had started using that "promised" hits to your website for a fee. Alarm bells rang! Mostly because of what some of my networking contacts had been warning people about and experiences they had had. When she asked if I had utilized a service for this purpose, I answered with firm NO! Well, after talking with her and looking at the site together, we decided to try a little experiement.

She needed more traffic and so did I and we would both try one particular company and compare our notes! We did look at several other companies before trying this one so that we would have a comparison. Our goal was to find an inexpensive resource, track the "hits" and see if those turned into anything more than just a "hit"!

Surprisingly, we started getting emails, sign-ups, phone calls, sales by incorporating this tool into our arsenal. I purchased a package for aprox. $30.00 a month for 3000 hits. I used a tracking system from my own site to see if they were actually from this company. They were.

Also, I noticed that my Search Engine rank went up slightly as well. Not much mind you, but it went up.

My prospects and customers went up as well. Please be aware that these "hits" are just that, the services DO NOT guarantee anything else beyond that!
But if you can pay for the service from the contacts made through the service, I consider that as effective.

Of course there are many services like this one out there to look at. They all carry varying packages at varying prices so you have to find what is right for you!
