The steps for getting wedding planning done cheap are essentially the same as for planning any wedding. You should sit down with the love of your life and start to write down the important things that need to be done. Then you need to do the following steps:Step 1: The most important thing is to establish your wedding date. You can start to search for a wedding dress and make up a guest list without a wedding date, but there are many other things that you cannot plan for without a wedding date, such as venues, caterers, musicians, etc.
Step 2: Make an initial guest list. This is where you have to be careful, because a large number of guests will considerably push up the bill for the wedding. To get your wedding planning done cheap, it is best to invite only close family and friends. There is no point in having third cousins around whom you have only seen once in your life and are not planning to see again.
Step 3: Draw up your budget. Make a list of items that needs to be done and that needs to be purchased. Write down the cost down for each item and add up the costs. If you have enough money available to cover the costs, you are very fortunate. If not, you will have to go through the list item-by-item and see where you can cut down to make it fit within your budget.
Step 4: Use the list of items that needs to be done and that needs to be purchased and make a timeline from it. Work out which items will require the most amount of time to set up and put them first in the list. Write down a due date next to each of the items on the list. The wedding dress: Rather rent a dress than have one made at an extravagant cost, or look on the auction websites like eBay for a secondhand one.Bridesmaid's dresses: Consider buying the bridesmaids' dresses can be at a store, instead of having them made -- this will also be a big money-saver. Another advantage is that they can be worn again after the wedding.
Photography: Get a photographer that shoots digitally, so there are no proofs to approve first. Just make sure that you can get the high resolution digital images from the photographer before you book him or her. The photographer needs to releases all right to the images, and provide all images on DVD without watermarks. You can then have the best photos printed very cheaply at a digital printing kiosk.
Wedding cake: Instead of having a traditional wedding cake, you can have decorated sheet cakes.
The drinks: Have champagne and fruit juice for the tables, but provide a bar where guests who want to drink alcohol or other soft drinks can buy their own drinks.
