Choosing Just the Right Songs for Your Wedding

Ranked #2,759 in Weddings, #246,545 overall

The Soundtrack of Your Wedding Day

The music is important. Very important. You can have a perfect looking wedding...perfect flowers, perfect attire, perfect decorations, perfect cake...but if the wedding music is bad then the quality of the event will drop (considerably). The music sets the tone for the enjoyment level of the event. You want your guests to have a good time. You want them to remember your wedding as a fun day. Choose music you like AND music that the whole crowd would enjoy. Choose music that means something to you. It's not that hard, if you plan ahead.

First Dance

This is a song that should really mean something to the Bride and Groom - it their chance to play something for themselves. Don't get out of control...it should be romantic...but it should be in the genre of favorite music.

Another key to this song choice, is that it be a song that is dance-able. Don't go with something complicated if either of the couple don't really dance.

These are just few options:

Etta James - At Last

Atlantic Star - Always

L. Ronstadt & A. Neville - Don't Know Much

Wedding CDs

These are a few good CDs that have what you will need for the ceremony. Most people don't stray too far from the basics for the ceremony, so most of what you want should be here. If you are using live musicians for the ceremony, a CD like this is helpful to be able to discuss with them which songs you want...there is more then one "Wedding March" so be specific or you may find yourself walking in to the wrong song.

Money/Dollar/Honeymoon Dance

This is another tradition that often gets the cut these days. Whatever you call it, this is the song where people pay for a dance with the bride and groom. Though many people think it is cheesy, and cheap, to do this dance, statistically most weddings still have one. It is most appropriate for first weddings for which the bride and groom are not already living well off independently.

Pretty much any easily dancable song

Since many will do this dance and few others, many dollar dance dancers can't dance. If you expect this to be the case, choose a very easy to move to song.1 point
