Strange Concept Videos from the 1980s

The Eighties were all about music videos. Mtv was born in 1981, and for a few years it actually played videos almost exclusively!

From the very first time "Video Killed the Radio Star" aired, the game was on to create ever more uniquely memorable mini-films to accompany the hits of the day. And boy were there some strange ones!

This page is an ode to some of my favorite "weird" Eighties music videos. I have chosen a selection of both "mainstream" as well as some one hit wonders or smaller hits. I hope they bring back some memories and make you smile and maybe even dance!

Who Can it Be, Now?

Men at Work had hit after hit in the 80s, and all their videos had a quirky sense of humor. Lead singer Colin Hay made a great psycho.

Wouldn't it Be Good?

Nik Kershaw's 80s anthem could be considered a weird 80s video.

The version made famous by After the Fire, a rather weird looking bunch.

Astronauts on a pile of scrap cars...would you call that a weird 80s video? I would.
