Wente Vineyards Estate Winery
No other winery in California has been continuously family owned and operated as long as Wente Vineyards. Founded in 1883 by C. H. Wente, the winery is now managed by his fourth and fifth generation descendants. The winery farms nearly 3,000 acres of estate vineyards in premier winegrowing regions in the Livermore Valley and the Central Coast. The Wente family is committed to producing wines of distinguished character and excellence at affordable prices.

Visitors to the Estate Winery Tasting Room learn about winemaking as well as wine tasting, thanks to a friendly, knowledgeable staff. A Wente tasting experience provides guidance on wine appreciation, along with the opportunity to sample award-winning vintages. Picnic and gourmet foods are available from the Country Marketplace, to be enjoyed inside or on the shaded patio. A well-appointed gift shop tempts visitors with additional food items, like decadent wine-filled chocolate truffles, and a selection of elegant wine accessories.Open Daily from 11am to 4:30pm
Daily winery tours begin at 11am and 2pm

A Few Facts Courtesy of Wikipedia
Wente Vineyards is a winery in Livermore, California and holds the distinction of being "the oldest continuously operating, family-owned winery in California." The Wente Estate is registered as California Historical Landmark #957. The winery was established by Carl Wente in 1883 on 47 acres of land. Having received training in wines while working for Charles Krug of Napa Valley, Wente purchased a few vineyards and land of excellent soil. In 1935 his sons, Ernest and Herman, introduced California's first varietal wine label, Sauvignon Blanc. The efforts of the Wente family, including pioneering night-time mechanical harvesting, have helped establish the Livermore Valley as one of the premier wine-growing areas of California. Since then, it has expanded to over 2,000 acres, plus an additional 700 acres in Arroyo Seco.
