What Are Fibroid Cysts

It is normal to have bodily changes. However it is always best to see a doctor when these changes come with pain and other abnormalities that hamper the things we do every day. If you feel something in your breasts don't panic and think that you have breast cancer right away since there's a great chance that your case is not as complicated as it is. Instead of breast cancer, you may have fibroid cysts. Read further to find out more information.

Calling fybroid cyst a disease is a misconception as it is a physical condition that occurs in women who are 30-50 years old. It may not be considered as cancerous, but it is the common cause of breast lumps.

Fybroid cysts are considered to be related to breast tissue changes that you undergo in each menstrual period.  During menstruation, the ovaries produce high levels of estrogens and progesterone. At this time, the breast tissues swell as a result of hormonal stimulation. Breast tissues will return to normal after menstruation. Since the menstrual cycle takes place each month, the hormonal stimulation keeps the breast tissue from swelling and going back to its normal size which causes to the formation of the said cysts or enlarged milk ducts.

Medical diagnosis of fibroid cysts can be done through mammography, x-ray examination, and biopsy. Most doctors don't recommend mammography since it can hardly detect the cysts as the breast tissues are dense while biopsy is the more popular medical procedure since it can also detect all the other breast complications. Statistics revealed that there is only a small percentage of cases which can be likened to having breast cancer.

Women who have been diagnosed with fibroid cysts are advised by doctors not to take caffeine and dietary fat as it might worsen the case and prevent convalescence from taking place. It is ultimately important to change the lifestyle by eating the recommended foods and taking exercise accompanied by proper medications in order to speed healing and recovery.
