Causes of Candida Albicans

The number one cause of candida is antibiotics. They destroy friendly bacteria and give candida a chance to grow. Birth control pills have estrogen in them and it promotes the growth of yeast. Tap water is high in chlorine which can destroy friendly bacteria and again allows yeast to thrive. Stress causes a release of cortisol which can raise the blood sugar and feed the yeast allowing them to grow. It also causes a depressed immune system which leaves the body defenseless against yeast overgrowth. Constipation causes your digestive tract to be very alkaline and this is the type of environment the yeast does best in. Pregnancy means higher progesterone and that means more yeast. Any Immune deficiency leaves the body vulnerable to yeast. Diabetes causes high blood sugar and guess what the yeast loves sugar. Poor diet and eating disorders disrupt the digestive tract and again leave it vulnerable to things like yeast. Caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and drugs cause the body to release stored sugars providing more food to the yeast. Alcohol specifically is more of a problem because of the malt. Malt sugar is very potent and can feed yeast very quickly.
