Learn About The Different Uses for PVC Pipe and PVC Pipe Fittings

Most people think that PVC Pipe is only useful for irrigation and plumbing. We're here to tell you that it has many more uses, and we're going to outline a few of them here.

How to Make a Wildlife Feeder

The picture above shows a schematic of a wildlife feeder. The directions to make it are pretty simple, and with some basic knowledge about PVC Pipe and PVC Pipe Fittings (all of which can be found on our other lenses), you too can make your own wildlife feeder, and with your own custom design.

What you need:
- 4" PVC Pipe (3-4 feet in length)
- 1 Y joint Fitting (more if you would like additional spots for animals to munch)
- Two end caps (threaded clean-out caps)

What to do:
Begin by attaching one of the end caps to the top of the PVC Pipe (instructions can be found at www.squidoo.com/howtoconnectpvcpipe). One the other end, attach the y joint. Next, you will want to attach the other end cap to the bottom of the y joint (using a threaded cap here will allow you to re-open the feeder and re-fill it).

Once everything is securely attached, and glued together, think about how to mount it. You can drill two holes in the top to hang it from a tree branch for birds and squirrels to get to, or brace it to a fence post or tree trunk for rabbits and deer.

Be creative and add extra y joints for more feeding holes. This will allow more than one bird or animal to come visit at once.

Make an Inexpensive Table or Shelf

Perfect for Outdoors, the Tool Shed or The Garage

Again, the Process is very simple to create this table, and it will be a very inexpensive solution to your storage needs.

What you need:
- 4 Lengths of PVC Pipe to form the top (two sets of 2 for a rectangular table or shelf)
- 4 even lengths for the Legs
- 4 90 Degree side outlet Elbows

How to do it:
Begin by joining the pieces to form the top of the table/shelf. Be sure that the third part of each of the 4 Side Outlet Elbows is pointing in the same direction. Once the top is assembled, you need to attach the legs. This is step is crucial to assuring that you have a level table or shelf. If it turns out that the table isn't level, try to shave down the legs to make them even. Take your time with this step to avoid cutting off too much. Once level, lay a sheet of plywood or baskets like the ones in the photo accross to form the base of your shelves.

If you want to add addtional shelves, you will also need 4 four-way joints to allow for addition of the new shelf. This may add additional difficulty to make the table/shelf level.
