About Eden Park, Auckland

Eden Park is New Zealands largest stadium and is host to many international sporting events, notably Cricket and Rugby.

It currently seats 48000 people but plans are underway to expand this to 60000 seats in preparation for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Eden Park is only 3km away from Aucklands main Business District and although parking can be difficult there are generally extra busses and trains put on when there's a big match.

Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel has All Blacks packages that include the Ticket, return transport from the youth hostel to Eden Park, two nights accommodation, a hangover breakfast, face painting, a commemorative t-shirt, a beanie and even a couple of beers! Email them to find out more
The final and the semi-finals will be held at Eden Park

What is a Haka?

What Wikipedia has to say about the Haka

The All Blacks perform a Haka at the beginning of every match. Here's what Wikipedia says about the "Haka"

Haka (singular is the same as plural: haka) is the traditional dance form of the M?ori of New Zealand. It is a posture dance performed by a group, with vigorous movements and stamping of the feet with rhythmically shouted accompaniment. The group of people performing a haka is referred to as a kapa haka (kapa meaning row or rank). The M?ori word haka has cognates in other Polynesian languages, for example: Tongan haka, 'hand action while singing'; Samoan saa, Tokelau haka, Rarotongan aka, Hawaiian haa, Marquesan haka, all meaning 'dance'; Mangarevan aka, 'to dance in traditional fashion; dance accompanied by chant, usually of a warlike nature'. In some languages, the meaning is divergent, for example in Tikopia saka means to 'perform rites in traditional ritual system'. The form reconstructed for Proto-Polynesian is *saka, deriving ultimately from Proto-Oceanic ''''.

Auckland Budget Accommodation - close to Vector Arena

Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel & Bar

Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel and Bar is extremely close to Vector Arena, in fact it's only a five minute walk away, so if you're lanning on seeing a gig at Vector Arena and really don't want to get stuck in traffic on the way there or back then Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel is a really good option to stay at.

It's cheap and it has a ridiculously cheap bar onsite. So if you don't want to pay over the odds (and possibly queue for your drinks, missing part of the gig you've paid to see) then pop into The Camel Bar for your pre-gig drinks.

To find out more email Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel and Bar, Auckland.

Check out some views of Auckland

You don't have to come to Auckland just to see the All Blacks at Eden Park or to watch your favourite band play at Vector Arena, it's also a beautiful city with lots more to do and see.
