You can help to make this a really useful resource about where to surf by telling others about your favorite surfing beaches. We also want to hear about surfing trips, blogs and websites about surfing.

I am continually adding to this lens, so stick around and if you have a favorite spot, where to surf, please add it to the lens.

Manly Beach
Manly Beach is reckoned to be Sydney's most popular beach and was the site of the first world surfing championships in 1964. It is 7 miles northeast of Sydney and you can get a ferry across the bay from the harbor, the beach is then just a short walk away.

The surf is a beach break, left and right, generally rated as suitable for beginners but with bigger swells it is only considered suitable for more experienced surfers, who tend to occupy the north end of the beach towards the cliffs. .

UK Surf Spots

There is some good surfing to be had around the UK. True that outside the summer months, the water temperature can be a bit cool compared to some parts of the world, but a good wet-suit works wonders.
Newquay
The surf capital of the UK is generally recognized as Newquay, on Cornwall's Atlantic coast. It boasts a number of surf beaches, Fistral Beach, Tolcarne, Watergate Bay and Lusty Glaze, to name a few, and it also has a large number of surf schools, nearly 20 at the last count.

There is great surfing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The water is cold so you have to wear a body suit. I've only been body surfing in Hawaii. :)

We just got back from Costa Rica where the kids went surfing. There are beaches on both sides of the country but we prefer the beaches of the Nicoya peninsula.

    Where have you been surfing?

Thanks for dropping by Evelyn. I have heard good reports about Costa Rica but I have been restricted to the cold waters around the UK I'm afraid. Looking forward to summer on the south coast and in Cornwall.
