Therefore, drinks must be treated and presented in a certain manner unique to their characteristics. Beer, wine, and hard liquor are three general classes of alcohol and each one, if properly served, would be served in a glass that complements the drink. You would not drink a martini in a beer glass, beer in a wine glass, or wine in a scotch glass. To properly hone the flavor and the essence of hard liquor drink such as whiskey, it's important to put it in a whiskey decanter.
Whiskey Decanters
Distilled from fermented grain mash, whiskey uses different grains, which are used for different varieties including barley, malted barley, rye, malted rye, wheat, and corn. Most whiskeys are aged in wooden casks and made generally of oak. Although there are a variety of whiskeys their attributes are not distinct enough to have a specific decanter for each.Whiskey decanters are very sophisticated and the only serving piece distinguished enough to suit a quality whiskey. As with any spirit, the proper glass and decanter are the difference between enjoying an average drink and enjoying a drink that has reached its full potential. There are varying styles and designs of whiskey and decanter glasses but only the best ones fulfill their purpose of enhancing its tastiness. To do this they present the spirit in a manner that appeals to your senses. Therefore, it must look attractive. Whiskey in a red solo cup is not attractive, but whiskey in the proper glass is very attractive and encourages one to not only drink the drink, but savor every drop of it. It must smell inviting. The right glass will immerse your nose in the smoky aromas of the whiskey, fostering a desire to revel in its flavor. And of course, it must taste delectable. The right glass will allow the whiskey to be properly exposed to the optimum level of oxygen and prompt you to indulge in all its succulence. This whole process begins with the decanter. Not only does the decanter enhance its flavor by aerating the drink but also it prepares the drink for transfer to the serving glass.
All in all, its important to note that the vessel used for serving whiskey is equally as important as the quality of the whiskey. The decanter and glasses provide the canvas to properly experience and appreciate the masterpiece that the distillery produced. So to ensure that you get a quality whiskey decanter set you must determine whether it engages your senses (sight, smell, taste). This is essential ingredient that will help you fully appreciate your whiskey. From now on, if you are a whiskey drinker, consider investing in a decanter or at least a whiskey glass because who knows what flavors you could be missing out on.
