Something is wrong somewhere...
Many people are scared to become bald, both male and female. Many of them worry when they see an amount of hair in their basin after shampooing. But as a matter of fact, our hair naturally loses about 50-100 hairs. The hairs removed often stays on our head. So when we take a shower we see a lot of hair in the basin, truth is this hair had been shed earlier. It is really hard to tell if your hair is starting to get thin so don't freak out if you see strands on your brush or on your pillow.
Bald spots may be one of the signs but there is no reason to assume you are going to go completely bald.
Why Is My Hair Falling Out?
If your hair is falling out, try this test.
There is a way to find out if your hair is starting to thin. The so-called "Tug test", using your thumb and index finger, hold about 15-20 strands of hair. Pull it firmly and slowly. If more than 6 hairs were removed, you can say it is starting to get thin.Hair loss can be caused by heredity and such events in your life like major illness. Hair loss is generally a major problem for adults (elderly). But in some cases, teens start to loss their hair too.
It is a sure sign that there is something going wrong. Hair loss in adolescence stage is caused by illness or improper diet.
Wearing hairstyles that pulls hair also causes it, like braids, because there is too much tension on the hair.
Losing hair is really a great worry especially for teenagers because that is most certainly the time of life where we obsess over our hair, if not all of the time, right?
So what do you do if you really believe that your hair is falling out?
Don't just stand there - run, to the doctor, now.
He/She has to go through all of your daily habits, medicines and life events to determine if you truly are going to lose all of your hair or just partially. They can't predict that at all, but they can rule out some things that might be causing it.
Possible causes are extreme stress, medications, life-threatening illnesses and the extreme steps taken to cure those illnesses (like chemotherapy) and many other diseases of the hair and scalp. Hereditary, as you know, pays a big factor here too.
If you are male, go and ask the doctor to check your thyroid. If you are a female, ask the doctor to check both your thyroid and ask him about a possible hormone therapy to help stimulate new hair growth.
But just don't sit there and count those loose strands - do something about it!
