Removing unwanted programs
For Windows XP: Click on the "start" button and then on "control pannel".
Step 2
Click on "Add Or Remove Programs"
Step 3
Scroll down the list of installed programs and highlight the unwanted program.
Click on the "Remove" button.

There are more advanced methods of doing this, but for now, I will stick to Windows' utilities.
Click "start" button, hover mouse over "All Programs", Hover mouse over "Accesories", hover mouse over "System Tools" and select "Disk Cleanup"

Select the volume you'd like to clean up with the drop down box.

Tick the selected boxes of files you would like to remove and hit "ok" You will notice a "More Options" tab at the top as well. You can go through there, but I would keep the System restore points in tact. This might save your precious data and operating system one day.

Step 1
Open "My Computer", right click on the volume you wish to de fragment and click on "properties".

Click on the "Tools" tab and then on "Defragment now"

Step 3
The volume you would like to de fragment, should be highlighted. Click on the button "Analyze" to determine if it is necessary to de fragment your chosen volume. If indeed you need to de fragment your volume, hit the "Defragment" button. This can be a lengthy process, so you should do this when you are not going to use your computer for a while.

Click on the "Start" button (round circle with Windows logo in bottom left corner)and type in the search bar "defrag". Click on "disk deframenter"

and select your volumes.

This is what it looks like the first time you start it up. Here you can select everything you need to include in the scan.(All the tick boxes under the big 'SCAN NOW' button) Clicking on the 'Help' button in lower right corner will bring you to their website with all the help files. Clicking on the 'Support' button will open up your default mail client with their e-mail address already filled in. However, the first thing I recommend you to do is to backup your registry. How do you do this? Click on the 'Advanced options' button at the top. You will be presented with the following:

Right at the bottom you'll see: 'Full Registry Backup Utility'. Click on that and click on the radio button: 'Create a new backup'
