Some Thoughts on Obsessive-Compulsive Blogging Disorder

This lens is currently undergoing a major over haul! All former content is being removed, and new content being written. This lens, is long dead and so rather than delete it, I'm am changing topics! It will be back soon so please come back later to see what it turns into! Thank you!

Obsessive-Compulsive Blogging Disorder: What Is It and D I Have It?

I've got an obsessive personality... if I find something I like, I get obsessed with it. Really, really, REALLY bad. *Points to all my comic books, all my Sessho lenses, and 4,000+ blog posts*. I would not be the least bit surprised if I had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I think I might.

I was reading a blog today that was talking about Obsessive-Compulsive Blogging Disorder and I realize, boy do I ever have that! I've got to go blog about it! .... thus proving that I had it ... *SIGH*

I think I also suffer from Obsessive-Compulsive Squidoo Disorder too, because once I got done blogging about it I thought... hey, I got to go make a Squidoo lens about this now! uh-huh, and here I am doing so right now.

Obsessed? With Squidoo? Blogging? No! Really? You think?

I joined the internet in 1997. I liked the internet. I became obsessed with the internet. I started building web sites. I became obsessed with building websites. Than 70+ websites later, I discovered I could add blogs to my websites, and I became obsessed with adding blogs to all of my websites. Before I knew it I had become obsessed with blogging, and than decided, to heck with blogs for my websites, I can do stand-alone blogs better!

Today, 4,000+ blog posts later, I'm STILL obsessed with and addicted to blogging, only now I blog and Squidoo simultaneously, with my Squidooing threatening to soon out weigh my blogging.

Obsessive-Compulsive Blogging Disorder and its Ramifications
Obsessive-Compulsive Blogging Disorder: where every altercation, interaction, poetic moment, amusing sign, epiphany, and witty observation must be documented in blog and/or photo format and shared with the online world.

Its symptoms are most obvious when the sufferer feels compelled to take a photograph of, say, a menu. Or a flag pole. Or the back of somebody's head. This eccentric behavior is typically waved away by the sufferer as incidental to the more important Big Picture idea, while bystanders remain befuddled by the individual's mysterious and seemingly random actions.

QUESTION: How do you know if you have a BLOG ADDICTION?

* When you put people on hold on the phone so you can jot down quotes for your blog.
* Not tonight honey, I have a blog.
* If you post things on your blog like%u2026"I had to go out for an hour but I'm back now"
* When the question "Are you a blogging addict?" makes you blush, like I am right now.
* In your dreams, do you create a new post for your blog?

Are you ready to take the Blogger’s Pledge? %uFFFD one cool site: wordpress blogging tips
Please take a deep breath and consider the following:

Constantly thinking about your next blog post could be one of the signs of a blogging addiction.

Being unable to observe any interesting event anywhere without turning it into a blog post in your mind could likewise be a tell tale sign.

And, dreaming about blogging is a strong indication that you have crossed the line.

So, are you ready to take the Bloggers' Pledge?

Or, do you have just one more post that you have to publish before you do?

Does anyone else find blogging addicting? // General Discussion // BlogCatalog
I am still new here (less than 2 weeks) but I have found that I haven't gotten anything else done.....because I can't seem to get my a** out of this chair now that I have found blogging! LOL

Does anyone else have this problem?

Or did you in the beginning, and the newness went away??

Is there hope? Or will I be terminally planted here?

What compels me to write a blog?

On one of the forums I visit, we were given this assignment: To write a blog post answering the question: "Why do you blog?". What follows here is my answer for that. Not really meant as advice or how-to, but rather, my views on blogging in general and why I blog.

What compels YOU to write a blog?

If you are reading this than, I can asume you got through that fist section okay? Yes? Good! Lets move on...

Do you have a blog? If so, than why not take the same challange I took, that inspired the writing of this lens? What is that challange you ask? Quite simple: Look deep inside your head, your head, your brain, and than write a blog post... not 2 or 3 sentences, but an actual article sized blog post, one with substance, one that forces you to truely analize your true deep soul seeking motives for writing a blog.

Are you up to the challange? Yes? Than set aside a few hours to give you the time to really write a detailed post and set out to answer the question:

Why do you blog?
