Why Does My Computer Run Slow?
My computer is only one year old and I wanted to know why does my computer run slow. There is nothing more annoying than waiting while your computer grinds away doing nothing. I lost more than a few games because of this problem.
My kids are on the computer constantly. Problem is when I want to use it all this crap is popping up and we have all sorts of new tool bars and other junk. They must click on everything in site. Our new computer has slowed to a crawl and the time it takes to boot.... forget about it. I go do something else while it starts up.

So what do you do? First I banned the kids from my computer and picked up a cheap one for them to
wreck, I mean play with. I downloaded RegCure and ran it. You can download it and run it for free and to see if you need the program. RegCure found a ton of registry problems and files I didn't need. This cut my boot time by half.
Run your anti virus - Next I scanned with my anti virus program. I use AVG it is free and all the updates are free. They update it several times a week so you always have the latest definitions. I used to have PCcillin and Norton but I like AVG better. It found viruses the others did not.
Do Not Try to use this program if you already have an anti virus on your computer. You will need to un-install your old anti virus program first or your computer might crash.
Now were getting somewhere - My computer was now running a little faster and booting twice as fast. However when I bring up windows task manager
there is still a lot of programs running using up my memory and cpu.
I downloaded and ran Ad-Aware and Spybot search and destroy. Adaware found 300 some spyware
and other files that didn't belong on my computer. Just a reminder here...always
back up you important data and programs, just in case.
I thought everything was ok until I logged into my Paypal account one day and everything was gone. I found out later someone also logged into my bank account. Scary... It seems someone had collected passwords and other personal info from my computer and used it. I came across Ultimate
Spy Killer for windows and ran it. I could not believe the crap it found. I had Trojans and key loggers installed on my computer plus a whole lot of other spyware the others didn't find. I ran there free scan.
