Some people can complete piles of work within the stipulated time. Some are even able to do it before time. However, lesser mortals often run late in submitting work. Getting things done is something that does not come easily to such people.

Some people can complete piles of work within the stipulated time. Some are even able to do it before time.

However, lesser mortals often run late in submitting work. Getting things done is something that does not come easily to such people.

It is all about efficiency. No amount of time is enough to complete something unless you know how to. And this know how is not found in some bestselling book. Although there are quite a few books out there claiming to teach you all about time management and compartmentalization. However, I think it is better to do the work in the time that you would otherwise spend reading these pieces.

Procrastination is the main problem in this context. Most people delay doing the work that they should do immediately. Unless you are a child who needs to be fed and bathed there will always be something that is required to be done of you. The best thing to do in this case is really doing the work. If you think you are running out of time isolate yourself from everything in your environment that may cause distractions for you.

Another good way of completing piles of work is to compartmentalize them. Finish off the ones that are most important. Only you can be the best judge of which those are. The ones that take long hours or tedious calculations should be attacked first. There is always a tendency to keep them for later. That "later" never arrives. And even if it does, you realize you are already out of time.

There will always be things that you would rather do over the work that you need to complete. Personal effectiveness comes to play at this very point. If you are able to pull yourself away from what you "want" to do and concentrate on doing what you "should" you will accomplish a lot more.

There may be conventional ways of doing things which usually works for people. But when you are in a hurry and need to multi task don't worry about trying new ways of your own. They may not be effective for others, but they might be great for your work process.
