About the Adventure Books
When naturalist John Hunt realises that both his sons are too young for their classes and getting too far ahead in school he makes them an offer: take one year out and work in the family business. Hunt runs a wildlife reserve and supplies animals to zoos, circuses and conservation parks. It is no surprise when both boys jump at the chance.
And so begins what must be the longest gap year on record, with the first of the fourteen books written in 1949 and the last in 1980. The Hunt brothers, Roger and Hal, travel all around the world, studying and capturing animals and learning to survive on the African veidt, desert islands and tundra; dive and mountaineer.

John Hunt Owner of the Hunt Safari Park and game reserve, John Hunt deals in rare animals. Described as an ethical man, he runs afoul of collectors who do not treat their specimens so well. With an encyclopedic knowledge of animal life he is as at home in the Amazon Rainforest or African Desert as he is in New York.
Hal Hunt John's nineteen year old eldest son, Hal is mature for his age with an incredible knowledge of all things natural.
Roger John's younger son, Roger is thirteen when the series begins and turns fourteen part way through. He is described as big for his age, and has a knack with animals of all kinds.
In the books, Roger often asks the questions that the reader needs answered and Hal or occassionally John take the role of mentor, supplying knowledge and information about the natural world.

The Safari team - Throughout their travels in Africa, Hal and Roger rely on their Safari team extensively, particularly once their father is no longer accompanying them.
Captain Ted - Captain of the Flying Cloud, the Australian yacht the Hunts charter for their later sea adventures.

- I remember readingf some of these books as a child - but that was over 30 years. I must try and find them and perhaps re-read them again. Blessed by a passing angel.
