- I encountered TDSSserv.sys (Rootkit.TDSS) on my home destop PC the other day.
The avast! home with default settings was labouring and extensively active; web page retrieval was slow; some file-contents pages were switching to show those of unrelated files.
I cautiously downloaded "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe"
Quick scan using this identified, pinioned, quarantined this bleeder.
Sent a courtesy, non reproachful, advisory of my experience to support@avast.com, and I hopethat they noted it, although they did not acknowledge it.
July 2010 - rootkit nasty TDSS is out there still.
