There are two new female characters coming onto the show this season, are these ladies a team?

KRIPKE: They're not both hunters and they are not a hunting team. They are separate female characters that serve separate and different roles in the show. Ruby played by Katie Cassidy is a hunter and she is ruthless and tough around the edges; more violent and less morally conscious than Sam or Dean. There's a big twist coming in for Ruby as early as episode two where she is not really all that she seems to be.

Bella played by Lauren Cohen is actually not a hunter, which is an interesting role in this world; she's a mercenary. All of these amulets and all of these occult objects that the boys find to stop these creatures are very valuable to the right people and so she is a thief more than she is a hunter. So say the boys need an amulet, but she's absconded with it. So she's much more of that Humphrey Bogart model of not being interested in the altruistic, revenge-minded, or heroic motives all of the other "freaks" have; she's in it to make a dollar. There's no good and evil. There are just market forces.

Sam Winchester: Dude, I'm not enabling your sick habit. You're like one of those lab rats that pushes the pleasure button instead of the food button until it dies.
Dean Winchester: What are you talking about, I eat.

We've got the names of the actresses playing both new cast members, courtesy of E!Online. Katie Cassidy was announced last week, and now Lauren Cohan will also be joining the boys. Cassidy's character will be named Ruby, while Cohan will play Bela. Word has it the two are demon hunters, and the latter will be getting involved with Dean. Speaking of Dean, the rumor mill says one of the pieces of his past he'll be encountering is the eight-year-old child of a woman he had a fling with nine years ago. If this were the last episode of the show, that'd be a big neon sign.

WHO WAS BLOODY MARY?

It's hard to come up with an answer to the question of who is Bloody Mary. "I mean, there's like 50 versions of who she actually is. One story says she's a witch, another says she's a mutilated bride, there's a lot more." The avenging spirit goes by many names: Bloody Mary, Bloody Bones, Hell Mary, Mary Worthington, and Mary Jane - just to list a few. There are some versions that even state that the Mary of legends is the Virgin Mary herself- be it without the violence, of course. On the opposite end of the spectrum, others believe that either the Devil appears or that Bloody Marry is either Satan's daughter, sister, or wife!

SUMMONING BLOODY MARY

The precise requirements for the ritual vary. The two most common elements in the ritual are the mirror in the darkened room and repeating a chant a certain number of times. Some versions state that Bloody Mary only comes on a specific day, whiles others may include splashing water on the mirror, rubbing your eyes or holding a knife. In some variations of the legend, it is said that if you walk by a mirror in total darkness, regardless of whether you are trying to summon her or not, Bloody Mary will get you.

There are many possible phrases that may be included in this chant: "Bloody Mary," "Kathy come out," "I (don't) believe in Mary Worth," "Bloody Mirror," and "Bloody Mary I have your baby." Sometimes the invocation is saying the Lord's prayer backwards.

Some rituals often include the act of lighting candles, spinning around in circles, or holding hands. The act of lighting candles is often associated with magic. Spinning around in circles seems like both an aspect of certain old witchcraft spells and also a way to make you disoriented. And holding hands is common to seances and similar ghostly events.

Samuel Winchester was born on May 2, 1983 to John and Mary Winchester. Sam was the couple's second-born child and youngest son, four years younger than his older brother, Dean Winchester. Sam is different from his older brother, Dean, in that he is rational, sensitive, and seemingly more concerned with living a "normal life" than his brother; in spite of this, it is apparent that he would do anything for Dean. He also rebelled against his father's attempts to raise him as a demon hunter and enrolled in Stanford University. When Dean came to ask Sam for his help in the first episode, the viewers are introduced to Jessica, Sam's girlfriend. It is apparent that Sam was somewhat popular, despite no one knowing what it is his family really does. His brother, Dean, is the only one allowed to call him by his nickname, Sammy.

Dean Winchester was born on January 24, 1979 to John and Mary Winchester. Dean was the couple's first-born child and oldest son, four years older than his younger brother, Samuel Winchester. He loves his car (a black four-door 1967 Chevrolet Impala), his family, and classic rock music. He always wears a brass amulet[1] on a long black cloth band necklace. While the significance of the necklace is unknown, it is clearly quite important to Dean (Ackles has claimed in an interview that it is an Egyptian protection amulet, but this has been yet to be proved in an episode).

From an early age, he was trained by his father John Winchester to hunt down and kill things of the supernatural, but unlike his brother he shows no resentment toward his father for being "raised like a warrior", feeling that after his mother's violent death, his father raised him and his younger brother the only way that he knew how at the time. He seems to prefer "the hunt" to the possibility of a normal life. Due to his father's training, he has several notable advantages for a human: he is an exceptional shot, has knowledge beyond the norm regarding the supernatural, is a skilled fighter, and appears to have some proficiency with melee weapons. He is also the only one allowed to call his brother "Sammy". When giving false names, he frequently gives the names of rock musicians. He also appears to be a fan of Jack Nicholson and possibly watches Oprah. He tends to make light of some of his and Sam's adventures and is known to use crude humor and make sexual innuendos. He is terrified of flying and claims that it is the reason why he drives everywhere. Dean values his family's safety over anything else, even going so far as to kill a demon and its human host in order to save Sam's life. He enjoys eating, and can be seen pigging out and enjoying his food in many episodes.

Shapeshifting, also known as transformation and transmogrification, is a change in the form or shape of a person, especially a change from human form to animal form or a change in appearance from one person to another.

"Every culture in the world has a shapeshifter lore- legends of creatures who can transform themselves into animals or other men." Usually, the animal involved in the transformation is indigenous to or prevalent in the area from which the story derives. It is worthy to note that while the popular idea of a shapeshifter is of a human being who turns into something else, there are numerous myths about animals that can transform themselves as well.

I bow down to you

Dean's trademark black 1967 Chevrolet Impala was passed down to him by his father. It bears a Sedgwick County, Kansas (even though they are from Lawrence, Kansas) license plate KAZ 2Y5, a reference to Kansas, the Winchesters' home state, and 2005, the year the show premiered. Starting in the episode 2.20: What Is and What Should Never Be, the car sports a new Ohio license plate (CNK 80Q3) to aid in the brothers' hiding from the FBI.

The car has been prominently featured on the series, beginning with the teaser of the pilot which shows John Winchester holding his two sons as he sits on the car and watches his house burn. The car is Dean's most prized possession, and he protects it with nearly the same ferocity with which he protects his family. In the pilot episode, the trunk is revealed to hold various weaponry to fight the supernatural. On a closer look, the trunk contains at least three machetes, what appear to be Marine Corps Ka-bar knives, an arrow, a spearhead, two silver spikes, several throwing stars with engravings on them, a revolver-type grenade launcher (loaded with police 37mm grenades), two flare guns, two tasers, two double-barrel sawn-off shotguns (another shotgun with long barrels was taken in Hook Man), a pistol grip pump-action shotgun (which is used to prop the door open), and a Heckler & Koch G3A3ZF sniper rifle. There are also several pistols including: a silver Desert Eagle, silver Colt 1911 with engravings, a silver Beretta 92FS (and the matte black Beretta 92FS as well), a matte black Colt M1911, and a Smith and Wesson M645. It is plausible that the knife Sam was packing in the pilot episode was also from the trunk. The car is moderately damaged at the end of the pilot episode and nearly totalled in a crash at the end of the season finale. Dean manages to rebuild the car; the newly restored vehicle is prominently featured in Bloodlust in an extended sequence to the soundtrack of AC/DC's Back in Black. Dean's car continues to play an important role in the series throughout the second season.

Dean's necklace is according to Jensen Ackles "a Egyptian protection amulet".

More likely it is representational of the Bull-Man, a Mesopotamian demon that helps people fight evil and chaos, or possibly Mithras, a Roman Zoroastrian god whose one of many duties is to protect the righteous from demonic forces.

Eric Kripke said there is a reason why Dean always wears it but they haven't found the right story to reveal why he does just yet.

How do the boys make money if they don't have jobs?

Dean runs elaborate credit card scams and hustles pool and poker games to make it from day to day.

How old are Dean and Sam?

At the start of season one Dean was 26, and Sam was 22.

Where are the boys from?

They are from Lawrence, Kansas. Believe me, this isn't just some random thing on the part of the producers. Do a google search of Lawrence, Kansas plus legends, and you should find some good stuff.

The website featured in the episode "Hell House" is a real website set up by the show's producers.

For a time, Dean's cell number was a real number, with Jensen Ackles reading the message: "This is Dean Winchester. If this is an emergency, leave a message. If you are calling about 11-2-83, page me with your coordinates."

Episode 2.15 "Tall Tales" centers on the tabloid newspaper Weekly World News. Both the print edition (dated February 19, 2007) and online Weekly World News feature an exclusive interview with both Sam and Dean, [3] as well as a spoiler-free sneak preview of the episode. In the article written by Paul Kupperberg, Dean admits he's been subscribing to the Weekly World News since the fourth grade.
