There are plenty of places to shop in Winnipeg. There is something for everybody, and for every budget. The cost of living is less here than some of the other big cities in Canada. Housing costs are not wildly unreasonable, like other big cities in both Canada and The United States. Although housing has gone up in the last couple years, it is still approachable, for the struggling, regular hard working joe.

Many areas of Winnipeg are pretty run down. With new rulings, houses are very slowly being rennovated. Even so this city is brimming with character and variety in its architecture. Some areas are full of pieces of architecture that set a mood and ambience. This is part of why Winnipeg is now used as a location for so many movies and television shows.

It is a reasonably easy trip to areas outside of the city of Winnipeg. Going to the provinces on either side of Manitoba is not a bad trip either. It is a little more difficult in winter.
