Leader of the Pack - Do You Have What It Takes?

In my almost twenty years of training dogs in Winston-Salem, NC, I have found the central philosophy of training dogs and addressing dog behavior issues. Here goes ...

Dogs are pack animals. In every pack there is a leader or alpha. The leader is strong, consistent and controls the pack. The others in the pack are content to follow as long as their leader leads.

When your bring a dog or puppy into your home, you become a member of his pack. The same rules apply. Unfortunately, we try to humanize dogs. This is a mistake. It is up to us to understand how to communicate with dogs so that they can flourish in the pack.

It is imperative that we become our dog's leader. Our dog is happier, secure and content. If we don't lead, our dog has to step into that alpha role. It's called survival.

That is what I do. I show my clients how to become their dog's leader. Through obedience. Through play. Through feeding. Through everyday life.

Follow my guidelines and you will experience a bond with your dog that you would have never dreamed of experiencing. It is not about food treats. It's all about praise, motivation, consistency and respect.
