A Mystical Room Setting
Witches Kitchen Decorating Theme
If you collect fairy art or fantasy figurines, this unique room theme is for you! Be creative with the setting and modify ideas to fit your existing collections. For the walls, start with a base paint color of a light to medium gray or a shade of purple. You can use a flat color, or create a stone look by faux painting with one shade lighter than the base. A more dramatic effect can be created with different variations of your color by hand painting the outline of larger stones to create a chamber-like atmosphere.
Stencil designs at the top of the walls with patterns of green vines or silver abstract swirls. Another idea is to use a thick glitter/glue pen, however, this may prove to be difficult to scrape off later, should you hate the idea. You can cut strips of canvas and use for the same idea, only take it with you when you move and not risk damaging any walls.
Curtains should be a shimmering fabric to allow for a natural and well-lit atmosphere. Use metallic satin, iridescent Halloween prints with cats or stars, organza, or even tulle.
Ancient and Magical Furniture
Alters, Benches, and Hutches for a Witches Kitchen
Furniture should be natural wood, and not too decorative in design. Use old tables and alters to store tools and small appliances, and maybe benches instead of chairs for the kitchen table. A tall plain hutch is essential to create a unique display for figurines, tools, and small decor items. Drape vines around your hutch and use natural stones, driftwood, and other earthy elements as a main feature of your display.

- Good artwork for this room would be abstract, scenic, empowering animals, or mythical creatures.- In this theme, cookbooks and spell books should be on the same shelf. Tools such as tarot cards, wands, symbols, charts, etc. should also be displayed.
- Choose whimsical plant hangers and pots for herbs, ivy, ferns, pothos - any vine-type plants you adore.
- Create mystical appeal using crystals wherever they will reflect the greatest amount of light. Use wire to wrap around individual stone pieces, then string together over a window, and place near candles.
- Use natural stones, such as bloodstones and adventurine which can be used to place over dirt in plants, in jars and bottles, and around pillar candles.
- Load your kitchen up with small built in shelves to hold a variety of candles, glass bottles, apothecary jars, magic tools, and appropriate figurines to complete the decor.
- Check your local flea markets and yard sales for vintage looking bottles of random sizes, styles, and colors. Some of the pre-filled bottles with vinegar, foods, or oil could work as well. They are in almost every kitchen section of major department stores. Maybe label one with olives in it "Eyes of Newt."
Hopefully, your guests won't worry what you are whipping up for dinner in the kitchen...

- Great idea. I'm decorating my kitchen now in a country/cottage style, but being Wiccan I would love to incorporate some of these ideas for a "Witch's Cottage" style.
I keep my cauldron in the kitchen, too, on the stove top.

- Love, love, love this! I have a few of these ideas already in my kitchen, but my cauldron is a bit big to keep there, my hubby keeps stubing his toes on it. I have a great spoon rest with "Eye of Newt, toe of Frog, Wool of Bat, and Tongue of Dog" on it. One of my favorite gifts. Blessed Be.

- I never really thought of my kitchen as a theme but I already have a lot of these items. I had a lot of bottles in my previous house, but can't find a way to display them in this one. I have one empty bottle that says "Eye of Newt" on it, from a wine maker in California. I also collect "witchy" coffee cups and one is in the shape of a cauldron. I also have mortars and pestles. The fairy decals are in my bathroom, along with a fairy shower curtain. Great lens, makes me want to do even more!
