With Violets is a historical fiction novel set in France during the dawn on Impressionism.
This was my first time to read a historical fiction, but it won't be the last.
It's the story of a female artist Berthe Morisot and the artist Edouard Manet.
The book starts in the year 1868 and ends in the year 1875.
Elizabeth Robards is a very descriptive writer. As you read the book you can actually see what you are reading. This book is intriguing from start to finish.
Read as Berthe and Edouard meet, their "love affair" over the years, the times they go through during the Franco-Prussian War and so much more.
I won't give any spoilers as to what happens in the story, but just say once more that it's a very intriguing read and well worth the read.
It was interesting at the end of the book to find out that the author studied Berthe Morisot, and although the book is fiction, she used a lot of facts in writing the book.
In my own searching I found out that this is the first book published by her as Elizabeth Robards. She has other books published under the name Nancy Robards Thompson.
This novel was so good I look forward to reading her other books as well.

About the Author
from HarpersCollins webpage
Award-winning author Elizabeth Robards formerly lived in France and has studied art and writing. She earned a degree in journalism only to realize reporting "just the facts" bored her silly. Much more content to report to her muse, Elizabeth has found Nirvana doing what she loves most-writing contemporary and historical women's fiction full time. She loves to travel-and when she can't, her imagination transports her all over the world.

- I always find it interesting when an author publishes in more than one name and wonder why.

- Nice lens. I love the name of the book too! Just a small note...looks like Squidoo added some text to your intro: ".... Edouard meet%u2026their "love affair" ...." Hate when that happens.

- I haven't read this book but it sounds interesting. I like to see people taking the time to write reviews. It gives the readers something to go by when selecting a book.
Great lens
