    I just wanted to say you did a very good job with this guide, I just wanted to point out the shoulder enchantment you have listed: Greater Inscription Of Unbreakable Quartz is more for a tank than dps, since it has dodge on it. The Greater Inscription of Jagged Stone is more suited to DPS.

    Thanks, im trying to get my 75 Tauren dk to 85, for lvelingi pretty much just quest and dng, and on occasion strand of the ancients, my favorite. Dks are an amazing class i am an unholy spec, and my dps are insane in Pve,but im still improving on Pvp. i am going to try and create a blog for pvp unholy dk tips, Heres my email if you want to get in on it.     This is the first time I have commented on any guide that I have seen or read, I wanted to thank you for taking you time and efforts in giving a great guide to unholy DK's. I was affraid that I was going to have to spend all day just trying to find the info that you give here.

    Thanks for that guide! I was really struggling with re-building my DPS spec post Cata. This was extremely helpful! I didn't want to be a button masher, and I didn't want to start over back at 55 just to get used to things all over again. I did the same thing as phr0stbyte, and stumbled upon this after finding nothing at WoWWiki.

    Off to re-train my reflexes!

I've been *scouring* the Net for a decent DK guide and not even WoWWiki or Death Knight Builds.com had anything really :( Then I stumble upon "Unholy Death Knight DPS Guide" and, before getting my hopes up click on the link.     Thanks, great guide. I was literally button mashing while using my dk as a gatherer for my main. But following your tips and using macros in less than 10 minutes my dps went from 2.5k to 5k at lvl 80.

    Hi Mate,
    Any update on what meta gem to use since patch update please, as it seems that both Chotic and Relentless now require more blue gems than red in your gear to qualify?

    I would say just hold on to what you got, blizzard released a blue post that they will be releasing a smaller patch later to put the requirements for meta gems back to how they were.

    Hi all, good guide. Can anybody give me a little advice. I have just reaccessed my dk after getting new gear, for some reason my character does not seem to hit as fast as it used to and was wondering if any items need tweaking or different gems.

    its mostly the gear you have that is lacking some haste, however 21.9% haste is not that low. If you haven't done so yet, you can reforge any excess hit rating that you have to haste. If you really feel that your haste is lacking enough to truly effect your performance then you could always replace a few of your stamina gems for haste gems. But your mostly just dealing with the gear you have now. And your dealing with it just fine imo.

    not too shabby, your hit is a little high at the moment, only by 1 percent though. If you are able to reforge any excess hit rating I would do so. There are a couple of gem slots such as your gloves, ring and I believe your bracers where you will want to consider replacing the 20str gems with 10str/10haste gems for the 4str bonus. Its a sacrifice of 6str for 10 extra haste which is a huge stat for us, so I would recommend doing that. Other than that you are doing great.

    Im actually fairly light on addons. Ones I would say that really help would be Omen Threat Meter, Skada or Recount for dps/damage done, Magic Runes to help track rune timing and DBM is usually a given for most raiders. I do have other addons but those are really my only raid orientated ones.

    through the armory it doesn't like to show reforges for some reason, but judging by your stats it seems you may have done that already. Everything looks real good here, one tweak i would make would be the 10stats blue gem you got, you can swap that for another 10str/15stam gem. Not much I can say here, you know ur stuff :)

    alright, ur stat issues have mostly to do with the gear you are wearing. Only thing you can really do is work toward some new gear. With the new justice point system getting tier 10 gear is very achievable for everyone. There is not a whole lot that can be done besides that. You are simply limited by the gear you have at the moment.

    Is it worth using up my JP's on current level 245 / 264 gear or will the new gear drops in CAT be better meaning that I will be better off saving the JP's for the new level gear in CAT.
    Also, is there a minimum crit % you would say I should aim for before I start stacking Haste?

    Well justice points will be usable in cata to buy lower end entry level gear. The gear will be equivalent to the gear you can get in the cataclysm heroic dungeons. So if you want to get a slight(very slight) head start then you can save up if you wish. In terms of a minimum crit I am really not sure lol. If you can get to maybe at least 15 that may be more helpful. With full t10 gear, even while reforged you can usually maintain a crit of around 30%

    Thanks for all your help. So do I just keep adding haste or is there a cap? I'm at the hit cap so i've been reforging all my crit and excess hit to haste. My crit % is about 8% unbuffed now though. It's been that low since the patch. I'm sure it was mid twenties before the patch. Do I just keep adding Str & Haste or is my Crit a little low?

    theres not really a full cap on haste, it can keep going, there is a limit on the amount it will effect global cooldowns but atk speed will always go up. However an 8% crit seems extremely low. I would prolly hang on to your crit at the moment. If you could post your armory link that would be great.

    So is there a certain haste value you would say where you can stop stacking and concerntrate on crit? My haste is currently around 700.

    not really no, haste is just that much better for us, it takes a fairly insane amount to reach any form of cap. I'm at almost 900 myself.

    In that case, what would you say is a minimum crit % where you would then start to reforge crit to haste? I'm concerned because I don't really want to start reforging crit to haste if it takes my crit % too low.

    maybe around 20 percent, this is just speculation, I am not aware of any real caps of any kind. I would consider something below 20 to be somewhat low though.

    hi, there are some some objects that already give us haste so is not possible reforge it to haste. Is a good idea reforge crit to mastery?

    If you have more than 30% you can try it, and post the results if you do please, it would be interesting to see if theres a benifit. As it is now the reforging system is still really new and there are still things being tested out. My best guess is that you should leave the gear but I will post anything if I find otherwise. Also I have updated the reforge section to talk about expertise.

    Its actually not all that sudden, haste has been a top contender for DK's even in patch 3.3.5 if you had the proper gear. Essentially there are numerous reasons haste benefits us. Especially with the new rune system we are left with a decent amount of empty moments for dry hits. One of our largest factors is also the amount haste benefits both our pet and our gargoyle. This is not to say however that you should be avoiding crit, you will always want to keep it around. There are some more mathematical explanations sitting around the net if you wanna take a look at them. Sites such as Elitist Jerks, however you do need to sign up with them to easily browse it. Hope that helps a bit.

    well because we have Plate Specialization now, both our frost and unholy presences give strength bonuses. If you are unholy specced, as it stands right now Unholy presence seems to be working out better.

    Blood Plague which comes from your Plague Strike move, Frost Fever which comes from Icy Touch and Ebon Plague which comes from a talent further down in the Unholy tree. It auto procs when you apply one of your other 2 diseases. Hope that helps.

    Thanks a lto for the guide, its great. I recently dinged 80 as an unholy dps dk and started random dungeons. I was lucky enought to have some gold and good guildies so I got some decent gear (titansteel everything!) and started heroics. My dps was ok, but not as good as it should be, probably because I had no system at all. Thanks to this guide my dps is wayyyyyyy better. Great work!!!

    Aha thank you very much! well getting tier 9 simply involves having a good team to queue for randoms. If you got a good team that wants to keep going u can collect those emblems of triumph in no time.
