Keeping your feet comfortable by choosing good footwear

A car is only as good as its tires and your vacation is only as pain-free as your feet. The Walt Disney World theme parks in Orlando, Floria are big and you're going to be on your feet all day so choose your shoes as carefully as you choose your resort.

Some tips to avoid foot pain while touring the Disney theme parks

1.) Buy any new shoes at least three months before your trip and then wear those shoes as often as possible. Vacation is for breaking the bank - not for breaking in new shoes!

2.) Your shoes could get soaked on Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids. You may want to have more than one pair of comfortable shoes along on your Disneyworld vacation.

3.) Are you planning to visit Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach water parks? Water shoes - available very inexpensively in the shoe department of any discount store - will keep your feet more comfortable and you can wear them on the slides. You'll have to carry flip flops or other sandals in hand as you ride the water slides.

4.) A nail file or emory board can be used to file down any rough spots inside your sandals.

5.) Even Wal-mart carries moisture wicking, blister reducing socks. You might want to get a few pairs just in case you need them later in the trip.

6.) Dr. Scholls Moleskin is a wonderful product for covering "hot spots" and blisters. You'll find it where shoe inserts are sold. Cut a much bigger piece than the area you need to cover because feet move and bandages will wrinkle or come loose.

7.) Don't forget to check your children's feet for blisters or hot spots. Kids get so focused on what they're doing that they don't always notice that they're feet are feeling tender until they're really uncomfortable.
