As we all get older the chances of being affected by a genetic disease increases. This disease appears in the years we often hear referred to as the prime of life 30-50.
An aging population will see more of this disease so research and treatment is essential to make life easier for sufferers.

They do great work for people suffering from a horrid condition.
I give as much as I can to bring freedom to sufferers.

Once again this is about people - helping them one at a time and this organisation does just that.

Fighting Blindness

Blindness or vision loss will affect one in every three people during their lifetime.
The Western Australian Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation is the organisation dedicated to raising funds so that researchers can find treatments and cures for all retinal degenerative diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa, Macular Degeneration, Ushers and Stargardt's.
Treatments and cures are on the horizon; you can read about the exciting new work by researchers but they are held back by lack of funding. Without this research, those of us who suffer from one of these debilitating diseases will remain in darkness and many, many more Australians will know the same anguish. We can curse this darkness or we can light the way.
Think of the Western Australian Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation as an engine fueled, not by oil or electricity, but by money and personal involvement.

I have a friend from Uni days who suffered from this - not that we knew then - but now we all enter middle age - the blindness is getting obvious and is just devastating!

ARTHRITIS WA

The Arthritis Foundation of Western Australia

Rheumatoid arthritis can actually make your life a misery and I saw this over 30 years as my father suffered with this nasty disease.
In the end it actually killed him - YES you read me right this disease can lead to death.

Heart disease and cancer get a lot of press but this disease is so debilitating and destroys any chance of a normal life unless you get serious support. The Arthritis foundation gave my dad just that support and over the years I have given back as much as I can to help them out.

"The objective of Arthritis Western Australia is to reduce the incidence and disabling effects of Arthritis, Osteoporosis and related conditions in the people of Western Australia through programs in Care, Education and Research."

Fighting the big C one child at a time!

Another personal story here.
My daughter suffered a bone cancer and we experienced all the ups and downs of dealing with cancer in the family. I have experienced old (really old) friends dying with cancer and it seemed different to my experience with children. It seems so much more devastating when you get the diagnosis from the doctor.

Naturally my personal experience and the cure of my daughter has had a big impact and I support this group without hesitation!

I have been a blood donor for - well since I was 18!
I have my certificate for 50 donations and I am proud of that too - but this organisation is so critical to life saving in our community!

I would just simply ask you to consider giving blood yourself - wherever you are in the world - and once again give help one life at a time!

A favorite of my wife - mainly because this organisation is focused on families and preventive care as much as emergency help!

The have a range of services for young people, street people and families in stress.

These guys have a heart for the people we often don't see!

The work these guys do changes peoples lives beyond measure - and also the lives of the friends and family around them.
