My Word of Wisdom diet with Fruits, Vegetables and Grains

Ranked #127,644 in Healthy Living, #1,208,722 overall

How I lost 25 lbs eating sensibly and exercising moderately

After trying different diets that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, I decided to eat based on the Word of Wisdom as given in section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants of the LDS church, and when I do, I feel much healthier and lose weight easier than I have on other diets.

What does God say is good for you to eat?

Mostly fruits, vegetables and grains!

I'm not a member of the LDS church, but I believe they have a lot going for them. In section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants, it talks about what God says is good and not good for your body. Mostly known for it's restrictions on alcohol, tobacco and coffee/tea ("hot drinks"), it also talks about what foods are good for us to eat.

So, I decided to eat primarily fruits for breakfast, a salad and/or other vegetables for lunch, and maybe some grilled veggies for dinner. I've found if I eat very much meat just before I go to bed, my stomach is not very comfortable while I sleep, so if I have any meat I usually have it at lunch.

I Try to Avoid Prepared Foods

They often contain ingredients that you don't need or want

I'm sure you know this already, but lots of boxed foods you buy in the supermarket supply ingredients that I don't want in my body.
