Standing over a foot tall, Wowwee Robosapien robot has the ability to walk, dance and groove, as well as pick up and throw items. 1. Wowwee Robosapien's power switch is located just below his right shoulderblade. Press in to power him on; if he has previously shut down automatically, you will need to press the button twice (out and back in).

2. The remote is set up so it's like you are holding the Robot in your hands. This turned out to be quite natural for most people, like you are directing an actor on a stage.

The left side of the controller always operates Robosapien's right side; the right side of the controller always operates his left side.

3. Robosapien has two types of hands. His right hand is for round or bulky things like dolls, cardboard tubes, etc. His left hand is for thin things like pencils, napkins, dollar bills, business cards, and paper.

4.If you want the Robosapien to be quieter, cover the speaker grill on his back with tape.

5. If you ignore him, Robosapien will stop and go to sleep after 5 minutes. If he gets no remote signal for 2 hours, he will shut off completely.

Robosapien V2 Full Function Humanoid Robot with Remote Control

Robosapien Version 2 is the next generation of Robosapien technology
and personality from Wowwee. This new member of the robotic family
comes with more advanced dynamic motion, interactive sensors, new
program functions, speech capability, and a personality all his own.
It's clear from the start that he enjoys bowling, dancing, and having
conversations.

Movement

RobosapienV2 is able to walk forward in four
different styles, or gaits. He normally uses his IR vision and touch
sensors built into his feet and hands to avoid obstacles, but if put
into bulldozer mode, he will walk forward or backward and try to push
his way through anything.

Beyond controlling him manually with the included remote controller,
RobosapienV2 can explore his environment independently in free roam
mode. You can also direct his movements by using the remote's targeting
feature--just point the beam to a spot on the floor and he will walk
toward it.

RobosapienV2 has been designed with a full range of motion. He can
turn his head just like humans. So, too, can he turn at the hips and
can move them forward and back and from side to side. RobosapienV2 can
move each arm independently, and his hands can grab, pick up, and throw
light objects, such as the included bowling balls and pins. He even
comes preprogrammed with a selection of dance moves.

Sensors

RobosapienV2 is equipped with a powerful vision
system that lets him track the movement of objects in his field of view
by moving his head and body. He will react differently to things based
on their distance from his sensors. He uses his onboard color camera to
identify primary colors and skin tones. This helps him identify his
bowling ball and pins, and bowling is his favorite game. His ability to
detect skin tones helps him know when people are waving to him or when
it's time to shake hands.

RobosapienV2 comes with a controller, a green
bowling ball and 3 red bowling pins.

He also has hearing sensors that help him detect people in his
proximity, tilt sensors that interrupt most functions to prevent damage
should he fall, and grip sensors that tell him whether he's been
successful in picking up an object.

Programming

RobosapienV2 can be programmed to move in
many different ways. You simply enter moves into the program using
controller commands, and RobosapienV2 will remember them in order. You
can enter walking steps, arm and upper body movements, demos and
animations, and even program subroutines. Once he's in guard mode,
RobosapienV2 will execute the program if he hears a sharp noise or
senses movement in front of him. The little guy faithfully remembers
his program, even after being shut off, until he's reprogrammed or
reset.

Robo Companions

RobosapienV2 can interact with other
Wowwee robots, such as the Robopet and the Roboraptor. Just have the
robots face each other and watch for surprising interactions.

Stars The Coolest Andriod On The Market
I found this Robosapien V2 used (RSV2). He was in need of some serious
repair work when I got him. Fortunately Computers and Robots just
happen to be one of my areas of specialty. Upon finishing repairs, I
pushed the power button and that's when the fun just got started.




I had so much fun with this little guys that we kept each other
entertain for hours. Robosapien V2 is like having an electronic human
being in your house. He has four of the five human senses built in. He
can detect stereo sound, has touch sensors to avoid obstacles, and
sense human presence, and even a full color digital video camera
mounted in his head, to detect skin tones and color recognition. RSV2
has over 100 pre programmed function and you can program him for custom
functions, using program mode. Only I wish that Wowwee had done a
better job making it so he can walk easier. Check out the videos I

My personal opinion is that this is really an adult toy, for robot
collectors like me. It is a little too advanced for young children who
cannot manipulate the remote controller or the robots commands very
well. It is a good idea to keep him off of tabletops. He cannot detect
table ledges like the Wowwee Roboquad can. Other than the walking
issue, I would highly recommended this robot for ages 10 to adult. I
love my Robosapien and he's not going anywhere, anytime soon. Because
I'm a robot collector, I'm looking for robots on the internet all the
time. I search thousands of online stores. So far I really can't find
any other robot that can measure up to the Robosapien V2. This robot
really can't be beat!

Star Danger Will Robinson
Buyers beware and do some googling on this product before buying. The
company has major quality control issues including bad wiring
insulation which can cause fires. I have come across hundreds of posts
saying the product fails soon after purchase. Mine did. They would not
replace it since I had lost the purchase receipt.

Stars Very fun toy, Chinese quality
This toy is very cool but ours stopped working soon after we started
using it. It folded itself up and kept the motors running even after it
was completely folded over backwards. I had to shut it off. I tried
everything. I'm a software developer with a Master's degree in
engineering so it's not like I can't figure out a technical problem.
This thing is broken.




When mine arrived I could tell that it had been used even though it
was newly packaged. It had some scuffs and scratches and it was a bit
dirty. I suspect that WowWee is having so many returns on the V2 that
they are repairing them and repackage them as new. I bought mine from
Target.com via Amazon.com so I'm covered as far as customer service and
rapid turnaround on a replacement but WowWee is not a company I will
ever trust again.




The ONLY reason that I'm getting a replacement instead of a full
refund is because when it works it is one of the coolest toys I've seen
and my kid would have a heart attack if we gave up on it.




The technology is great and if you wonder how they could possibly
sell these things for under $[...] then look at the label: Made in
China. Pick up the hand-held controller and feel the cheapness. Unlike
a video game console control that has some heft and fairly thick
plastic, the controller looks cheap and feels cheap. It IS cheap. The
robot's plastic is OK but the controller is just a piece of junk. Too
bad they didn't spend a few more bucks on the controller.




If WowWee built such a cheapo controller that you are going to be
holding in your hands and looking at the whole time then imagine the
shortcuts they took on quality on the things you can't see. I only pray
that they had a software Quality Assurance team that actually looked at
this thing before they released it.



We have arrived at an era in which a $[...] toy is a throwaway. Sad.

Stars The toy you always wanted
I purchased the Spider-sapien from another vendor (not amazon), for my
2.5 year old for Christmas. Mine has different eyes. This robot ROCKS -
literally. He goes through a dance routine complete with his own music.
All the kids dance along.




Initially I thought it would be too advanced for my son - and many
parts of it are (for example you can program a series of movements to
occur with one button) - but surprisingly he can manage most movements.




The remote control is big but that works really well for keeping
track of it among all the other toys. My 5 year old is also really
intrigued by the toy. I'm a little nervous about the toy and tend to
keep a closer eye on it than some of the other toys because of the
cost. Also be ready to spend some money on batteries (the robot takes 4
Ds and the remote takes another set of AAs).

These are the robots that I used to wish for when I was a kid.

Stars Not what the picture shows
First mistake the photo is of a Spidersapien and we received from
KBtoys a Robosapien. I saw the reviews and noticed that this happened
to another individual who bought it for her son. I was hoping that the
same mistake would not happen to me. My nephew is really into Spiderman
so when I recieved the Blk/Wht Robosapien I was very disappointed.
There was no time to return it because of the Christmas holiday. This
is not the first time I have had a mistake with an Amazon order. I
would recommend you be cautious when purchasing with Amazon and if
there is any kind of bad review DONT BUY IT!

Star Very Disappointed
The toy is great except for they lied with the picture. It is not the
Spider man one, it is just the plan white one. Thanks to the deception
of the picture my son is not getting what he wanted for Christmas. Very
disappointed that they would lie to their customers like this. Stay
away from this product.

Stars WATCH OUT AMAZON BUYERS!!!!
I ordered the spidersapien from Amazon 2 weeks ago and when i received
the robot it was the regular black & white one and not the
spidersapien that i wanted. since the toy was being sold from etoys i
called them up and it turns out that amazon has a false advertisement
on the spidersapien b/c etoys does not carry that one only the black
& white one that was sent to me. etoys rep was very nice and i got
my refund and i didnt have to send the robot back...it was given to me
for free...so i sold it for $50 and got my son the spidersapien from
toysrus.com for $40!

Stars WARNING about eToys
It looks like they advertise the Spiderman robot, but they send you the
black and white one. I could have gotten the Black & White one plus
a mini for the money I spent from my local target. I have tried to
contact them and have gotten no response. I guess their scam worked.

The basic functions and "personality" of the Robosapien
are quite entertaining, especially for those who are experiencing
it for the first time. He is a thing of beauty there on the shelf, but
having woken up with a yawn, he is all action.
