It took me over 14 years to get into print and then I decided to begin my own publishing business, Media Angels, Inc. in 1994. There has been no looking back! I love the ability to write and publish my materials as well as other authors. My focus has been the Christian book market. Writing is a passion and being passionate about your work can be very satisfying! Yet, having a passion that revolves around something I truly believe in, my faith in God has been the best combination of all.

My blog

Ah, the joys of blogging. I'm way to verbose and the idea that I can share my thoughts with the world has been a frightening thing (from the rambling about whatever point of view). So, I hesitated for a very long time before I began a blog. Turns out I really enjoy blogging but it doesn't get done every day...but it is on my to-do list. I discuss pressing issues in the world of home education, kids and child rearing, keeping organized to "get it all done" and sometimes go off topic (isn't that the entire point of a blog?!!). What I'm reading right now

As a home school parent and owner of several businesses it is rare that I have time to read anything of any length other than my Bible. But with the holiday season upon us, my children want to see the second movie in the Chronicles of Narnia...Prince Caspian. Well, there is a rule in the Gerwitz household. You have to read the book...if there is one...before viewing the movie. So, we are reading the series and the children are hoping the movie is one of their Christmas presents.

When I began writing I really thought I wanted a traditional publisher. I did get a contract from a book publisher and then decided the home-school market was too fresh and new (okay, I'm dating myself here)...so I turned down the contract and self-published my book. That was in 1994 and there were not many people with free time to help me to become a self-published author. One of the best books I read after I had been self-publishing for about five years was Dan Poynter's book. He had a niche market (as I did) which is really difficult from some perspectives (less people to sell to). On the other hand niche markets allow others (who enjoy the same topic) to see your product and sales are easier.

    I've consulted with Felice on several business ventures, especially in creating my website. She is more than a "Media Angel" ... she knows her stuff and is a great person to bounce ideas off of! If I ever write a book I'll make sure to consult with Felice.

    Felice is a powerhouse of energy. She manages to keep her household on track and still is able to develop several projects including her wonderful publishing company. She is motivated by a love of God and her fellow man. I am blessed to know her.

Acknowledgements

My husband is my best friend and I am really thankful that he is my stabilizing force. Without him I probably would have written hundreds of books and none of them would be any good. He is patient with my new ideas and ventures and he is the one who holds on to me when I'm ready to take a leap of faith...every other day! I am also glad to be the mother of a large family. With five children, and two grandchildren that visit often the house is often full of noise. Being able to write amidst chaos is a requirement in this household.
