Writing for Info Barrel

My InfoBarrel Experience

I started writing for InfoBarrel on September 8, 2009. I put 4 articles out on their website. InfoBarrel does not require articles to be written in 3rd person. It is a great place to write in an informative, first person style. Many writers from eHow also place their deleted articles on the InfoBarrel website because they allow previously published content.

Articles are subject to approval until the following criteria are met:
*10 articles are approved
*You've been a member for at least 14 days (They do allow backlinking on a responsible scale.)
*You haven't overdone your backlink building to your other online work
*A diverse range of subject have been used for publishing
*You prove your grammar skills and a sound knowledge of the English language

More Article Requirements at Info Barrel:
*Articles must also be 400 words in length.
*No links in the first paragraph of the article.

..more about Writing at Info Barrel

SEO
InfoBarrel currently has a Google Page Rank of 4, so publishing articles there will get some exposure with the search engines. Shoot for keywords that have not been targeted on other higher ranked content publishing websites.

Friendly Community
InfoBarrel also has a pretty strong community of writers that are willing to exchange views and comments.

Relaxed Writing Style
Because 1st person is allowed here, you can essentially blog at InfoBarrel as long as your writing is informative and factually correct without spamming.

Publishing
It is not uncommon to panic after submitting an article to Info Barrel, as they seem to disappear after submission. If your article is denied publication there is not link it provided in the rejection email. Don't worry the content is still on the website, it is just a little hard to find. Most writers look for content under the "My Content" tab on the "My Info Barrel" page. Instead, select the "Navigation Bar" at the top of the screen by the login. This will open up a bar at the top that also links to "My Content." However, under this content page, you will be able to see live, draft, denied and pending articles. You can also see friend requests in this tool bar.

Views
To give you an idea of what to expect from Info Barrel, here are my views for articles published in September (I didn't do any backlinking to speak of):
Why Suite101 and eHow are My Favorite Places to Make Money Writing
views (295)
How to Make Money Writing for the Web
views (250)
How to Contact Credit Reporting Agencies Online
views (62)
Help to Choose Which Knifty Knitter Loom Set to Buy
views (345)

Earnings
I have earned a few dollars from InfoBarrel through Google Adsense. They require an Adsense ID to get paid. Compared to the amount I earn on other websites, InfoBarrel doesn't pay much. My experience has been better with InfoBarrel than with HubPages though. I have earned more from InfoBarrel. It is also a great place to put rewrites or previously published content to earn an extra buck.

Backlinks
Finally, it will help you build backlinks and make new writing friends. Two backlinks are allowed in each article and the links are do follow links, so they help improve your Google Page Rank.

The "Things to Do Tab" at Info Barrel
