The Revolutionary Xerox Phaser 4500 Printer
Ranked #65,625 in Computers & Electronics, #1,017,939 overall
When it comes to technology, printers have never really been something to consider as revolutionary. They went from dot matrix to black and white, and from bubble jet to laser, but overall their purpose didn't change, unlike computers. The Xerox Phaser 4500 printer is an example of an older model, still in use today, still producing a great end product with its Xerox Phaser 4500 compatible toners.
Designed For Office Printing
The 4500 is a black and white model (or monochromatic) that's designed for office printing. It prints relatively quickly as well, being a laser jet, so it's perfect for those occasions when you need a hundred copies of a report, a hundred resumes, etc. It does its job for an office printer, but that's it. It's definitely obsolete if you're looking to print photographs or heavily detail-oriented images.
What that means for a potential buyer is that you can't get a new one. You can still get it used online or at some kind of electronics pawn shop though. But if you were planning on getting a new printer anyway, then a newer model would be better as their price is practically the same.
If you have the 4500, or are considering getting it, you're probably getting it for office-related purposes anyway, which is why there are newer models out there such as the 4510 and 5550. All three models print in black and white, but the newer ones more than likely print faster or hold more paper, or have better Xerox Phaser compatible toner, or something of that nature. Since the prices are relatively the same, it might be better to go new.
If upgrading is only minor by comparison, but you still want to upgrade, there's another way. The Xerox Phaser printers are all upgradeable, including the 4500. You can get a bigger hard drive for it to holder a bigger printing queue, or make it print faster, or whatever you need. Upgrading one piece at a time could be a waste of money, but if it's only a difference of one or two things, it might not be. It all depends on how much of an upgrade you're looking at.
Making the switch is easy enough, however, as most places offer a trade-in policy. If you are trading in an older model printer (such as this one), then you can trade it in for a discount towards the purchase of a newer model. The only issue is that there isn't really a promise that the money you get from your traded printer will be all that much.
Regardless of what your situation is, though, most places claim they will find something to do with your older model, as a way of encouraging people to make the switch. And when it comes to getting a new printer, you're more than likely not going to have a use for the old one. That being said, there's not really much to lose, even if you don't get much at all in the end.
Maybe you only need something basic, like the Xerox Phaser 4500 printer, so shopping for used versions might be best. Maybe you're considering trading one in for a newer model, but aren't sure if the transition is worth it. It comes down to each person's basic printing needs. Offices aren't usually picky, so long as the printer works. Chances are, it will get the job done just as any other printer would.
This Xerox model remains a staple for many people, however, they may be noticing a problem finding Xerox Phaser 4500 printer toner cartridge. Looking online for merchants who carry Xerox Phaser printer toners and you'll find what you need, as well as great prices on any compatible toner.
