Yelena Isinbayeva - Undisputed Pole Vault Queen Of All Time

Yelena Isinbayeva, famous Russian female pole vaulter, is a 3 times European champion, 2 times World champion and 1 time Olympics champion. Yelena Isinbayeva is the only female pole vaulter that has cleared the 5.0 meter barrier and yet she is only 26 years old. And just recently on the 11th of July 2008 Yelena Isinbayeva made a new world record of 5.03m. That new record come after 3 years from his last world record set at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki, Finland.

After breaking the new record she said she was angry that someone was saying she was finished when newcomer from USA Jennifer Stuczynski has just made a new US National record with 4.92m. And I think she is still really angry because not long after that on the 28th of July at the Monaco Grand Prix she broke another world record with a leap of 5.04m. So congratulation Yelena for taking the challenge and I'm hoping she could break another world record at the Beijing Summer Olympics. Yelena Gadzhievna Isinbaeva () (born 3 June 1982) is a Russian pole vaulter. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist (2004 and 2008), was named Female Athlete of the Year by the IAAF in 2004, 2005 and 2008, and World Sportswoman of the Year by Laureus in 2007 and 2009. Prince of Asturias Award for Sports in 2009. As a result of her accomplishments, many consider her to be the greatest female pole-vaulter of all time.

On 22 July 2005 she became the first woman to clear the historic 5.00 metre barrier in the pole vault.
