Downloading video from youtube

There are various software applications that enable you to rip and convert flv videos from streaming sites like youtube. However, there is one software maker in particular that stands out from the rest. I can highly recommend ANY piece of software produced by a company called Applian Technologies. They have led the way for the last 4-5 years with their video ripping and converting software, and they have become my firm favorite for video downloading/ripping/converting software.

The following is the software I use to download/rip, convert and play flv files from youtube, MTV, hulu, the BBC, dailymotion, reuters and many other video sites online.

1. For ripping flv video files from youtube (or any other website) I use this bundle of products, called the Replay Capture suite. The software bundle contains EVERYTHING you need to rip, download, record and convert ANY video or music files online from ANY website. If its video or audio, and its streamed online, you can capture it with this software. I haven't found anything yet that I couldn't download or rip using Replay Capture suite!

The bundle costs $99 and you can download it instantly, which is a good deal and saves a LOT of $$$ on the cost of buying each application individually, but they do a trial download so you can test it out for yourself first. 2. For converting to other file formats so I can watch the video on my ipod, I use this converter. Its included in the 'Replay' AV capture software suite above, or you can download it as a seperate standalone program if you only need to convert files you already have, for instance if you want to play them on your iphone or whatever. Have a look, you can try before you buy.

 

3. For playing flv video files on my pc, I found this free FLV player. Now this is really free, there's is NO spyware, adware, malware or any other nasties. Applian are a good company with a respected reputation. If i remember when I installed it it did ask me if I wanted to install the applian media recording toolbar to my web browser, which I said no to, not being a lover if toolbars in my browser :) So watch out and just say no.
