My Passon for Photography

I received my first camera when I was about 11 years old. Our family was going to Disney World and I was thrilled that I could take my camera along. Even though they are old and faded, I still have my first photos.

Growing up, I photographed family events like Christmas, birthdays and graduations, but my favorite photos were random pictures of my siblings. I have a picture of my sister in hair curlers. I treasure the photo I took of my oldest brother when he was learning to play the guitar. I have pictures of all of my siblings with their first cars, bikes and motorcycles. I have them dressed in uniforms, formals, in swimsuits, and even bell bottomed blue jeans. There are those action shots caught just in time to capture the "bomb" affect of one of my brother's cannonball jumps off the diving board and into the pool. I have dozens of pictures of my brother's and sister's actions that they would deny if only they could. The best part of being on my side of the camera lens, is that there are no photos like that of me. I seem to be the only one of our group that was bitten by the shutter bug.

I take my camera, the blue one in the photo, almost everywhere I go and I am likely to take pictures of almost anything. So, it should not be surprising to anyone that I have taken some of my favorite photos and opened a Zazzle store.

As I have been writing Squidoo articles, I have been taking photos for each one. They have become the foundation of my Zazzle store.

The Lone Wolf

I love all animals, but I am especially attached to Shiloh. She is a beauty who lives at the Memphis zoo. Her gentle, solitary ways just speak to my heart. How could I do anything other than love her?

She is featured in the article below and she is the lone wolf who graces my Zazzle store.

The Luna Moth

The Luna Moth is considered endangered in many areas. We felt quite blessed to see this little one in the midst of all of these leaves.

This was my 3rd article to write and publish on Squidoo. I wanted to share our experience with everyone else. I have added this photo to my Zazzle store so anyone can take a luna moth home.

The Star in My Garden

For over a decade, this lovely flower has returned to me. When I see it, I am always reminded of the hands that originally planted and nurtured the seedling that is now the star of my garden.

Rome, Italy

Everyone in our home enjoys traveling and vacations. This trip was a graduation gift to our son, but we received the greatest gift by getting to spend time and discover Rome with him.

I have shared several of our best photos on Zazzle. These include the Trevi Fountain, Jesus on the Resurrection Tapestry which is displayed in the Vatican, the Colosseum and several statues in Rome.

I should tell you, if it is a naked statue from the museums, I have given them an R-rating out of consideration to families with children who shop on Zazzle. While I completely understand that these statues are works of art, I know there are some parents who would prefer that their young children not view them. I believe the decision to allow children to look at anything questionable should be left to the parents.

The Entertainer

Our Rose of Sharon is a true delight! From spring through fall, it blooms large, beautiful hibiscus flowers and invites many guests to dinner. It has become my favorite spot for photo shoots.

You will see several photos taken at this location with a variety of dinner guests which include such distinguished visitors as Mr. Hummingbird, Miss. Monarch Butterfly and even Mr. Bumble Bee himself.

Mr. Bee does not like to be photographed, but I continue to play paparazzi. One day, I will catch him and when I do, I will share him with you.

Our Delicate Dancers

Some blooms just beg me to take their pictures. The Flowering Pear trees seem to beckon me to look closely at the blossoms and to be sure to include them in my gallery.

We tend to see this gorgeous dancer as a big picture of the entire tree, but the blooms are so beautiful, it would be a shame to ignore their individual appeal.

Party Time

It is not really necessary to have a reason to celebrate during the summer, but the 4th of July offers a wonderful reason to party and shoot fireworks.

The Baby Tree

It is hard to believe that such a young tree could produce such beautiful blossoms! When it first bloomed, the blossoms were white, but they turned pink within a week.
