WANTED: Petty Larceny and Unladlylike Behavior
Background: Zelda hails from a long line of Slavic pirates and horse thieves - surf and turf
Age: Refuses to disclose, but alot older than she'll admit
Location: "Where'ver me arse lands, but fer now it be New Orleans."
Family: Rumor has it that she has a daughter named Ruby, though Zelda insists that the girl was a foundling
Crews: Pirates Next Door Headquarters, New Orleans Krewe of Pirate Wenches
Piracy: Acquires valuable gems from other krewes and redistributes them through the great and good generosity of the Krewe of Wenches; Has been known to insist that new acquaintances buy the first round - the second round is on her. There's no evidence of a second round ever occurring; requisitioned the seahorse_keeping page on Squidoo.
Overheard: "It's a lie, I tell ya. I ain't ever charged for me affections a day in me life. I was being polite. It's rude to turn down tips, now in'it?"
A pirate wench is more than her costume
Aye. I dress up like a pirate wench and parade around the streets of New Orleans. Here, in NOLA, that is remarkably unremarkable. But, being a pirate wench is far more than costuming, In a nutshell, it's about attitude. It is about being unapologetically who you are. The dressing up part serves as a reminder of that and is just plain fun.
When I don my wench wear, I walk a little taller and laugh a little louder. I'm saucier, sassier and shamelessly flirtatious. In short, I'm more me.
The things I like best, though, are the smiles I get from others and interacting with friends and strangers alike in a way that is simultaneously artificial and more authentic than how we usually communicate with one another. While those intangibles may not pay the rent, they certainly feed my soul and that makes the effort worthwhile.
I'll continue to add to this page as my wenching adventures unfold so, do stop by to see what I've been up to and please sign the guest book - better yet, sign the guest book or I'll be 'avin' yer gizzard fer dinner.

- 'Ave bought the first drink for a few of the clan of Pirate Wenches in Charleston and Savannah and the memory's dim, but I recall hearing the name Shagnasty. Twitter me timbers though... I don't recall seeing Zelda among 'em! Aaargh... 'tis my loss I suppose 'cause I've never ported 'N'awlens. Ahh... but she 'as a bonny smile in the picture there... and a wench pirate's eyes... 'n sound like she's a fair hand with the riggin' and the sails. Good sailing to you Zelda Shagnasty 'n fives all round!

- Hi Laura,
I think you not only have a great way with words, but also a really great way all-round.
You have some smashing lenses and an attitude that almost brings them to life.
Thank you for sharing and inspiring...
Warm Regards
