A Rocking Horse of a Different Design!
One day while surfing the net, I discovered a wonderful toy site from England: Bouncy Happy People. I do not know why, but the Europeans always seem to have some of the most beautifully designed toys. Think Brio. Think Wood.
Think out-of-the-box.
On Bouncy's website, I stumbled on the most beautiful child's rocking "horse" I have ever seen -- The Sibi Olga Child's Rocking Horse. (Rockinghorse or rocking horse? Does it matter?)
How this Rocker came to be:
The Sirch family has been producing products in wood for over 300 years in Germany.
During the last part of the 20th century, the SIRCH Company specialized in industrial shipping pallets; they continue to manufacture them today. After the death of his father Isidor Sirch, Wolfgang Sirch, an interior architect, became president. For a new synergy, he brought Christoph Bitzer, a sculptor, into the company. The rocker was designed by Wolfgang Sirch in 2005 and features composite birch.
The new Sirch-Bitzer team began designing and producing very special items for children under the brand name "Sibi". All Sibi products are handmade in the Sirch factory in Bavaria, primarily in wood. The rocker was designed by Wolfgang Sirch in 2005 and features composite birch.

I have also found other toys by this same manufacturer and they are listed at the bottom of this page. So keep scrolling !

Is This Rocking Horse Too different or just right?

Is the Olga Rocker too modern for you?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Bring back the springs!
says:
Yes I think it is too modern and I would never gift this to a child. Although this features less space for a room it will not stimulate a child's imagination of a "horse" and the beautiful detailed expressions that a horse toy carries. I will highly recommend Ride Ons from www.toysandstuff.net

I think there is room for both old and new. i agree with the person who preferred it to be called a rocker, rather than a rockinghors

I like the futurist look of the new horse. But it doesnt look much like a "horse". So I as far as rocking horses go, I say bring back the springs.

I like the sleek look and I bet my kids would have loved it when they were younger. For some, it's simply the movement that's exciting and not so much that it looks like a horse. And those springs! They pinched my dang fingers when I was a kid! :)

- Not a horse. But I did have something very similar to the latest design. Dad made it for my older brothers and I inherited it .. a bit of wear and tear on it but I did love it.

- No I didn't but I still can comment on the lens! I have always wanted to- just there were not lots of toys in stores to buy in a socialist country 30 years ago. I love the new design, while I also think that kids would love it more in the old fashioned horse style and appearance.

- No I don't. That's why I don't think I can comment on this lens.
